The tech industry is currently going through a major memory crisis, and it is starting to impact almost every type of device. Rising costs of key components like RAM and storage have forced many companies to increase prices or rethink their product plans. And now, due to the same issue, both LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are raising prices of their devices in Korea.

According to a report from eDaily, LG has increased the prices of its popular Gram laptop series once again. The company has raised prices of some models by around 200,000 to 600,000 won starting this month. This comes shortly after an earlier price increase at launch.

Price hikes for LG and Samsung laptops

The 2026 LG Gram 16-inch model originally launched at around 3.14 million won, which was already about 19% higher than last year’s version. With the latest adjustment, the price has now reached roughly 3.54 million won, marking another 13% increase in just a few months. LG has pointed out that rising component costs and exchange rate changes are the biggest reasons behind these changes.

Samsung is also following a similar path. The company has increased prices across multiple products, including its Galaxy Book laptop lineup. The report claims that the Galaxy Book 6 and Galaxy Book 6 Pro models have seen price hikes ranging from 175,000 won to 680,000 won, depending on the configuration. The higher-end Galaxy Book 6 Ultra has seen even bigger increases, going up by as much as 750,000 to 900,000 won.

These price increases are not limited to laptops. Samsung has also raised prices for its Galaxy Tab lineup, showing that the rising cost of components is affecting its entire product range. The company also explained that these changes are due to ongoing increases in memory semiconductor prices and fluctuations in exchange rates. It’s uncertain if and/or when these price changes will affect the international market.
