Modders work quick: Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 8 hits 1,000 compatible mods milestone
Table of Contents
BG3's final major update, Patch 8, has been out for close to a month now, giving modders enough time to work on compatibility fixes one last time. When the patch first dropped, we saw over 20 mods released without any major issues, especially cosmetic ones like Bangs Bangs Everywhere and Hair Collection.
Since then, the number of working mods has climbed to over 1,000. Unlike before, when BG3 fans were advised to avoid class and subclass mods due to issues where the 12 new subclasses weren't showing up properly, popular sites like Nexus and Mods.io now have hundreds of class and subclass mods marked with the “Tested for Patch 8” tag.
No need to worry about class and subclass mods
At the time of writing, there are currently 1,029 Patch 8-tested mods available on Mods.io, while NexusMods follows closely with 979 results. Among them, BG3 fans can find class mods like Mind Weaver Class, Mystic Class, Barbarian Subclass, Tempest Knight sorcerer subclass, and many more. Customization mods are also joining the list in larger numbers, with fan favorites like FaerunColors and FearTaylor's Cam Closes now tested for Patch 8 as well.

Baldur's Gate 3 has one of the most active modding communities out there, and we've seen creators like Jay Dunna say that “BG3 has the potential to overcome Skyrim as one of the best games in modding.” Now that the last major hurdle for modders is behind us, the community is expected to grow even more and deliver ideas we haven't yet imagined. That said, you can head to these sites yourself and check if your favorite mods have been updated to work with Patch 8.
Most top-rated BG3 mods have already been transitioned over. Even though the development of one in particular – Improved UI – is not actively maintained, the community has still stepped in to provide fixes where needed.
