The highly anticipated MSI MPG 271QR X50, the brand’s latest venture into the high refresh rate monitor space, looks set to launch sometime between Q3 and Q4 2025 – with best estimates being September.

During Computex 2025, we had the pleasure of getting hands-on with MSI’s latest 500Hz QD-OLED monitor, and it’s safe to say it made a lasting impression. MSI didn't hold anything back and proudly showcased two monitors, out of which one was the MSI MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 gaming monitor, which has a 1440p resolution and a whopping 500Hz refresh rate.

At this point, you might be thinking that this monitor might be the perfect option for FPS gamers, and you wouldn't be wrong, as it certainly seems so. Not only does it have a QD-OLED panel for excellent visual quality, but the high frame rate means a buttery smooth gaming experience.

Our very own, Charlie Noon, was also present on the floor at Computex 2025, and out of all the monitors showcased during the event, this one impressed him so much that he presented it with the ‘Best Monitor at Computex 2025′ award. So, now that we've covered this, let's dive into some of its specifications and expected release date, and pricing.

MSI MPG 271QR X50 release date and pricing

The MSI MPG 271QR X50 is expected to hit the market somewhere around September, as some estimates point toward production in July, which makes sense why we'd have to wait till September to have a decent amount of units ready for use.

Right now, there is no official word from MSI regarding the release date of this monitor, so take this information with a pinch of salt. The same goes for the price, which is expected to be $899, meaning it isn't the most pocket-friendly option out there, with its other variant, the MSI MAG 272QP X50, supposedly sporting a $849 price tag.

MSI MPG 271QR X50 specifications

Here are some of the specifications of this monitor.

All of these specifications are those that we've seen before in other products, but this monitor brings something new to the table with its OLED Care 3.0, which increases the mandatory panel refresh from 16 hours to 24 hours.

Besides that, there is the AI Care Sensor, which has a 75° detection angle, that will detect whether you're sitting in front of the monitor, and if you aren't, it'll turn off the monitor, protecting the panel from burn-in. It also features one DisplayPort 2.1a, which is the latest standard and is listed to support UHBR20, meaning you should get the full 80Gbps bandwidth with that port and can experience full 500Hz without relying on DSC.

The USB-C port has DP alt mode, data, and offers 98W power delivery, meaning you can fast charge your mobile device, laptop, or other gadgets easily with this monitor.

Should you upgrade your 360Hz monitor?

So, the grand question is, if you've already got a 360Hz gaming monitor, should you switch to this 500Hz monitor? The short answer is that, just for a higher frame rate, there is no need to upgrade, as even 360Hz is enough for most FPS games. However, if you're a tech enthusiast and want to experience the latest innovation, then by all means, the features this monitor brings to the table should be worth it.
