PC gaming enthusiasts are often looking for the very best hardware for their rig, and in the monitor space, this generally means upgrading to an OLED monitor. This panel technology has been on top for a few years now. There have always been a couple of worries about the lifespan of OLED, but manufacturers have been pushing the technology to be more reliable than ever.
The risk of burn-in remains a worry for gamers, but features such as pixel shifting and pixel refresh are commonplace in the latest OLED panels. MSI even recently showed off a clever way to prevent burn-in on its latest monitors at Computex, by turning off the monitor for you when you aren’t in front of it. And now, MSI has rolled out a new firmware update to ten QD-OLED models.
New firmware updates for ten MSI QD-OLED monitors
As detailed on the MSI blog, the company has now rolled out (on June 4th) firmware updates to ten models. Exact patch notes vary depending on the model, though there is a common update. All but one model (the MPG 341CQPX) have had their “Protect Notice” interval changed from 16 hours to 24 hours. In effect, this means users can enjoy a less disruptive panel refresh reminder.

MSI was keen to show off its OLED display technology at Computex a couple of weeks ago, including proof of “guaranteed” burn-in protection for 3 years with OLED Care 2.0, running for 8 hours a day.
