MSI has just released a new BIOS update for its latest AM5 motherboards, ranging from the X870E to the B850. The new update introduces the latest AGESA release, along with support and optimization for memory modules, and, more importantly, support for upcoming new CPUs.

As noticed by @g01d3nm4ng0 on X, the new update leaves us fresh information right at the bottom as a vague hint of what’s to come. Currently on our radar is the 9000G release, which is expected sometime down the road. However, the latest rumors suggest it will be in the last quarter of the year, making this BIOS seem too soon for that.

That might just come sooner than expected, though, or it could just be another Zen 5 chip, as we’re definitely not expecting the next generation of processors anytime soon.

Other updates in the BIOS

The primary feature of the update in the new BIOS is yet another AGESA update, not too long after its previous update from MSI. This is the AMD library that’s part of the BIOS that is used for initialization of the cores, chipset, and main memory. This is a core function of the BIOS, and further optimization and improvement can enhance the motherboard’s performance.

There is also added support for all four 64GB DRAM chips, which include manufacturers like Hynix, Micron, and Samsung, along with optimization for 2DPC 1R capability (2 DIMMS per channel, one rank). Lastly, it focuses on optimizing Samsung 4Gx8 chip overclocking.

That means generally better DDR5 RAM support and even overclocking potential for them. That should help with stability and those looking to push their hardware to the limits.
