Valve releases new updates for the Steam Deck on a regular basis. These updates introduce fixes and improvements while also occasionally adding new features. All of these are designed to improve the overall handheld experience.

Recently, the company released a new Stable update that brings several improvements and changes, including allowing users to install and uninstall demos remotely. We’ll go over some of the major changes and improvements, but for a full list of updates, you can check out the official update log.

What does the March 10th update offer?

One of the biggest new features in this update is the ability to install and uninstall demos remotely via your profile games list. This makes trying out new games easier and more convenient. Valve also improved the Steam Deck's notification system, thanks to which when you reconnect to Steam (like after waking the device from sleep mode), you won't get spammed with notifications about what your friends are playing. This small but useful change will help keep the interface clean.

The game library has also been improved. Earlier, when players tried to visit a game's store page from a demo, Steam sometimes sent them to the demo's page instead of the full game's page, but this is now fixed.

There is also a change to the “Launch Multiple Games” option. Steam Deck had a feature called “Switch to previous game,” which allowed users to switch between two running games. Now, it has been replaced with a “Close previous game” option. This prevents performance issues that could happen when multiple games are open at once.

Another improvement is in the game notes feature. The “My Notes” section is now available on the Steam website. This means you can write, view, and edit game notes from your PC. The feature will also come to the Steam Mobile app through a future update.

Steam Deck's Desktop Mode received several fixes. One issue with backing up game files that sometimes caused the process to fail has now been fixed. There was also a bug where the downloads page could crash when a free-to-play game was removed during installation. On top of that, Valve fixed a problem with dropdown menus, where sometimes they wouldn't appear when clicked.

Monster Hunter Wilds fixes for Steam Deck

Before this update, players had trouble recording gameplay in Monster Hunter Wilds. This issue has now been completely fixed. In addition, you can now stream MH Wilds video over the Remote Play feature – the game was also added to GeForce Now a few days ago if you’re interested in the streaming route (which we would recommend after we tested MH Wilds on the Deck). The game doesn’t run amazingly well on the Valve handheld, but there is at least a Steam Deck config out there if you want to give it a try.

  • Fixed streaming video in Monster Hunters Wilds (Remote Play)
  • Fixed recording video in Monster Hunters Wilds (Game Recording)
