Key features of this Gigabyte Aorus Master RTX 5080 graphics card

Windforce Cooling System

This card features three Hawk Fans, which are, as the name suggests are inspired by an eagle’s wing. This essentially reduces air resistance, but also increases air pressure and air volume, without being too noisy. As with many of the higher-end triple-fan graphics cards, they spin in alternating directions. This is to reduce air turbulence and increase air pressure. These fans can also switch off entirely under lower loads, allowing for silent operation for everyday browsing, for instance. On top of that, there’s a large vapor chamber, copper heat pipes, and server-grade thermal conductive gel for optimal heat transfer.

Design and lighting

This graphics card has some premium touches that make it a cut above most of your standard RTX 5080 offerings. Notably, it features RGB Halo lighting, located around the fans, which you can customize or synchronize with other devices via the Gigabyte control center. Not only that, but there’s a small LCD that can show anything from text, GIFS, and more.

Blackwell architecture and 16GB of VRAM

One big feature of all RTX 5080 cards that makes them stand out from the crowd is their Blackwell architecture. 50-series cards benefit from the latest gen ray tracing cores, CUDA cores, and tensor cores, plus MFG and DLSS 4. You’ve also got new and improved GDDR7 VRAM, which is much faster than GDDR6, giving you much smoother gaming performance, alongside an overall less laggy experience when using creative applications for demanding tasks.

Gaming performance

Check out our full RTX 5080 FE graphics card review for an idea of how this card might perform, but if you’re short on time, RTX 5080s can handle 4K ray tracing at ultra settings at very high framerates with most games, dropping down a little when you have ray tracing enabled. For 1440p, it’s a powerhouse, easily smashing 100fps and beyond at ultra settings.

Considerations and alternatives

This card, even with the discount, is still significantly above MSRP for the RTX 5080, as you’re essentially paying a premium for a very advanced cooling system, and some top-tier build quality and design features. It’s possible to save at least $200 if you opt for a card without RGB, and many of them still deliver when it comes to aesthetics, too. We’d recommend exploring these options before committing.
