What we like about this Cobratype Pilot Gaming PC
RX 9070 XT
This build features one of the best price-to-performance ratio graphics cards you can get, the RX 9070 XT. This GPU is often the go-to alternative to some of the mid-range 50-series Nvidia options, as it features 16GB of VRAM, but for a very competitive price point. It’s a great option for 1440p gaming, and features FSR, which can help improve performance even further. In our review and testing of an RX 9070 XT, it was able to easily get over 100fps at max settings at 1440p in most games, and handle ray tracing with very playable framerates, too. Even at 4K, it was pretty impressive, hitting 61fps with Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings without ray tracing enabled. Overall, it’s one of the best graphics cards you can get for your money right now, and it still packs a punch despite being an older release.
Ryzen 5 9600X
This CPU is a great pick if you’re looking for something with excellent single-core performance for gaming, that doesn’t drive up overall build costs. With a high boost clock of 5.4GHz and a large 32MB L3 cache, this processor will be able to handle demanding gaming sessions very well. However, it’s got a relatively small core and thread count, which makes it not quite as adept when it comes to multithreaded workloads. For an affordable CPU that pairs well with the RX 9070 XT, this is a great way to go.
DDR5 RAM
What’s good to see in this build is the inclusion of DDR5 RAM, and 32GB of it, too. That’s going to be enough to handle RAM-intensive applications, such as those found in the Adobe Creative Suite, and will come in handy if you’re playing games with larger asset libraries, such as heavily modded open-world titles or simulators.
Considerations and alternatives
First off, this PC is excellent for the price, as most RX 9070 XT prebuilds tend to come in at closer to $1,800 in most cases, so grabbing one for under $1,600 is excellent. The primary consideration here is the CPU, and whether it’s the right choice for your primary usage. As mentioned, this is a great option for single-core performance, but its core and thread count aren’t designed with heavy multitasking in mind. We’d say going for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D would be a good option to go for, if you wanted something for even better gaming performance, but also have superior multicore performance, too. It was one of the best gaming CPUs on the market, but as it’s a few years old, it’s now far more affordable and often found paired with graphics cards targeting 1440p resolution. You may have to increase your budget by around $200, but in our eyes, it would be worth it.
