Nintendo DS lookalike from Anbernic can play two games at once, as new video shows off dual-screen features

A new video has just been released showing the Anbernic RG DS in action, and it gives us our best look yet at what the dual-screen handheld can do. While Anbernic had already revealed the design and specs of the device earlier and even opened up pre-orders for the Nintendo DS lookalike, this new footage focuses on how the two screens work together – or independently.
The video begins by showing some of the more basic features, the kind that most handhelds with a single display already offer. However, after a while, the video shifts focus to what really makes the RG DS special: its dual-screen design.

This is where the device begins to stand out. One of the most impressive things shown is the ability to run two games at once. Players can have one game running on the top display and another on the bottom, switching between them as they like. This is an interesting feature for those who enjoy multitasking or testing different games side by side. It’s not immediately clear if the ‘out-of-focus’ game is paused when you switch between them.
The video also shows how users can game on one screen while doing something else on the other. For example, you can play a game on the top screen while watching a video on the bottom. Or, if you prefer, you can reverse that – use the bottom screen for gaming while keeping a game guide or walkthrough open on the top screen. This makes it easier for players to follow tutorials or check tips without having to use another device.

The video also reveals that both screens are touch-screen capable – not just the bottom one like you’ll find on Nintendo’s DS handhelds.
Customization is another key feature. The RG DS allows players to set different wallpapers for each screen, giving the device a more personal touch. The video also highlights dual-screen comic reading, where the comic is displayed on the bottom screen while the top screen automatically zooms in on the panels.
It doesn’t stop there, as the video also shows users reading an eBook on the top screen while playing music on the bottom screen’s player, combining entertainment and reading in one setup. It even demonstrates a unique text input feature, where users can decide whether they want to type on the top or bottom screen.
