The Nintendo Switch 2 is just around the corner. While the preorders are live, the hybrid handheld gaming console will drop on June 5th, and various retailers are bracing for the big day. Before the launch of any product, it isn't unusual for rumors to pop up regarding the performance, pricing, and stock.

That is exactly what happened with the Nintendo Switch 2, as there was a news report by Bloomberg claiming that the Switch 2 is being offered to Japanese retailers at a wholesale rate. This was great news for the consumers, but it was quickly shut down by Nintendo.

Nintendo Japan clears the air

In a post by Nintendo Japan's official X account, they quickly shut down the pricing rumors to avoid any false buildup and to manage the expectations of the community.

So, the report claims that stores will be able to make a higher profit of 5%, compared to the standard of 2%, which isn't true. What does this mean for the consumer base? For the US audience, the MSRP of $449.99 is official, and for the Japanese market, the price will be adjusted accordingly.

There aren't any chances of scoring a Switch 2 for less from a different region, and if you're looking to grab one for less, you'll have to wait a while for the price to drop or for it to go on sale. You might have to wait till the end of the year for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, but even then, it isn't a guarantee that the Switch 2 will be on sale, as new products rarely are. Especially something that Nintendo expects to sell as well as the original, in a shorter amount of time (in other words, better).
