Nostalgia mod for Oblivion Remastered fixes painfully dull colors with “minimal performance impact”

If you’ve been playing Oblivion Remastered and feel like the visuals look a little dull or washed out, there’s now a simple way to fix that. Created by user Exhalted on Nexus Mods, this new mod called the Nostalgia Reshade helps bring back the classic golden tones that many players remember from the original game, and it does this while claiming not to hurt performance.
What does the Nostalgia mod offer?
One of the main problems players have noticed with Oblivion Remastered is that the color tone makes the game world less warm and as golden as it used to be; a little muted or ‘brown’. The Nostalgia Reshade mod fixes this by using something called a LUT (Lookup Table). It changes the color tone of the game but keeps things lightweight, meaning your FPS and performance stay almost the same as before.

The best part is that installing the Nostalgia Reshade mod is pretty easy. You just need to place the files in the game’s main folder, where the OblivionRemastered-Win64-Shipping.exe file is located. After launching the game, you can press Shift + F2 (or Shift + Fn + F2 on laptops) to open the Reshade menu. From there, you can turn the preset on or off easily by setting a toggle key. By default, it’s set to the Delete key.
To make the mod look exactly like the screenshots shown by the creator, you can adjust some settings in an Engine.ini config file located in your documents folder. These changes help improve lighting, color balance, and brightness. But if you are already using the Ultra+ preset in your game, you don’t need to worry about these extra tweaks.
The mod also comes with a couple of optional features. One is Eye Adaptation, which brightens up night scenes to match the original game. The other is Magic Bloom, which adds a soft glow. Both are turned on by default but can be switched off if you prefer a clearer image.

However, it is important to keep in mind that for some players, a black screen may appear after installing the mod. This is a known issue and happens if the LUT file didn’t load correctly. The creator mentions that this issue can be resolved by reinstalling the mod.
