NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GDDR6 likely to launch today following shortage reports

For a few weeks now, there have been rumors about Nvidia working on a new variant of RTX 4070. As per the reports, this new RTX 4070 will have the same specs as the original one – except for the GDDR6X memory. Due to a quality issue with the GDDR6X memory, the new RTX 4070 will have the slower GDDR6 format. As we reported earlier, this issue was said to affect the supply of graphics card RTX 4070 and higher.
Considering the high demand and the shortage, Nvidia decided to roll out the new RTX 4070, which will fill the gap in the market. And as speculated, the cards will arrive on the shelves very soon – as soon as today (August 20th, 2024).
Nvidia's partners might roll out the new RTX 4070 GDDR6 variant today
If earlier reports are credible, Nvidia's partners like GALAX, Gigabyte, and more might actually launch the new RTX 4070 with GDDR6 memory today.

The new variant will share the exact same specifications as the original one, except for the memory configuration. The RTX 4070 will be based on the AD104-250/251-A1 architecture and will have 5888 CUDA cores and 64 ROPs. The card will deliver a base clock of 1920 MHz and a boost clock of 2475 MHz.
Further, the GPU will feature 12GB VRAM on a 192-bit memory bus. However, the memory here would be GDDR6 instead of GDDR6X. Due to this, there is a slight change in speed here due to the downgraded memory. The original offered 21 Gbps, while the new variant offers 20 Gbps.
Now, as per Wccftech, these GPUs will be available for purchase later today. Major AIB partners will release this RTX 4070 for about $549. While the original GDDR6X variant cards will be available, the new GDDR6 version will be supplied more in the coming months.
