Last month, One-Netbook launched an upgraded version of the ONEXFLY gaming handheld. Plus, the brand also unveiled a new mini PC, the OneXPlayer M1, which it claims is the most powerful mini PC featuring the Intel Meteor Lake “Core Ultra” CPU. Plus, it also has OneXStation, a portable workstation, in the works.
One-Netbook seems to be ramping up, as the company revealed OneXGPU 2, which would be the successor to the eGPU solution that was released last year. What’s more, is that the upcoming eGPU will be equipped with AMD’s Radeon RX 7800M GPU.
OneXGPU 2 will feature the unannounced RX 7800M card
According to the post on IT Home, the OneXGPU 2 will be powered by AMD’s Radeon RX 7800M “RDNA 3” GPU. Now, this is noteworthy because AMD currently has no graphics card named “Radeon RX 7800M” – so the upcoming OneX eGPU features a new, unannounced GPU.
At the moment, AMD’s RDNA 3 lineup based on the Navi 32 die has RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT GPUs – but rumors are swirling around potentially adding to that list. Meanwhile, there are a few mobile GPUs based on Navi 31 and Navi 33 dies, which are RX 7600S, RX 7600M, RX 7600M XT, RX 7700S (all based on Navi 33), and RX 7900M, which makes use of Navi 31. So, if an RX 7800M is released, it will definitely fill a gap in the mobile GPU options that AMD has to offer.
Further, considering that the OneXGPU features an RX 7600M card, which boosts the framerates for handheld gaming devices. With the RX 7800M, we can expect even better performance.
As per the post, the upcoming eGPU 2 will have USB4, Oculink, HDMI, DP x2, USB-A x2, RJ45 Gigabit network port, and M.2 2280 mobile hard drive bay. Apart from this, there is no mention of exact specs, release date or price. However, the OneXPlayer website mentioned that the eGPU is coming soon and they’re currently on the lookout for beta testers.
We will know the exact specs when the OneXGPU 2 is launched. But if it’s similar to the OneXGPU eGPU, then we might be looking at a more powerful compact eGPU solution. The main highlight of the first eGPU was that it was enclosed in a stylish case. It also featured cooling fans and RGB lights. The upcoming GPU 2 also looks similar, so we’re hoping that it retains the original’s enclosure and features.
