Overclocked MSI Shadow RTX 5070 tumbles below $500 with Newegg deal
Table of Contents
There are still plenty of excellent graphics card deals at Newegg right now, and we’ve found another standout offer on one of MSI’s finest. This MSI Shadow RTX 5070 OC graphics card is down a significant $83, reduced from $582.99 to $499.99, and at its lowest price in 30 days.
This graphics card is ideal for anyone sticking to a mid-range budget for 1440p gaming, with all the added performance improvements made possible by Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture. We also think it looks pretty sleek, too, and would look great in practically any build. For the price, considering the RTX 5070’s MSRP is $549, we think it’s a great deal well worth considering.

Key features of this MSI Shadow RTX 5070 OC graphics card
Blackwell architecture and 12GB of VRAM
The RTX 5070 is built on Nvidia’s new Blackwell Architecture, which boasts a wide range of improvements to both performance and efficiency, plus new features like MFG to increase perceived framerates. Notably, these cards feature 4th-gen Ray Tracing cores and 5th-Gen Tensor cores, alongside new and faster GDDR7 VRAM, of which this RTX 5070 has 12GB.
Overclocked performance and advanced cooling
This card is factory overclocked to 2557MHz with ‘extreme performance’. That’s a touch more than your standard 2512 MHz boost clock, but it should be more than welcome if you’re looking to squeeze out extra performance from this graphics card. Its cooling solution is suitably robust, too, even though it’s a smaller, two-fan setup. The fans are TORX 5.0, which are designed for more airflow than your standard axial fans. These can switch off completely with lower usage and temperatures thanks to Frizr technology, which can help keep operation noise levels to a minimum. This card also features a nickel-plated copper baseplate, which is effective at pulling heat away from the GPU. On top of that, you’ve also got a large number of thermal pads and a vented backplate to further optimize heat dissipation.
Gaming performance
Check out our full review of another RTX 5070 graphics card to get a more in-depth idea of what to expect with this card. In short, RTX 5070 graphics cards can easily hit over 100fps at 1440p at ultra settings, but their 12GB of VRAM can be a limiting factor when it comes to higher resolution, textures, and ray tracing.

Considerations and alternatives
As mentioned, the only downside to the RTX 5070 is its 12GB of VRAM, as there are some similarly priced AMD options with more, like the RX 9060 XT, for example, although it’s last-gen GDDR6. If you want to stick with Nvidia, your level up would be the RTX 5070 Ti 16GB, which is a couple of hundred dollars more expensive at MSRP. This card will be able to handle ray tracing and higher resolutions much better, and is a popular choice for those who want more VRAM, but don’t want to miss out on the latest improvements brought forward by Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture.
