As 2024 comes to a close, it’s time to look back on the best consumer tech released this year, covering the whole gamut of products that we’re interested in here at PC Guide: from printers to projectors, GPUs and CPUs, headphones, drones, and microphones, we cover it all!

When it comes to choosing the ‘best’ product for each category, we factor in all features and benefits being offered: some of our picks might not be massively innovative but offer great all-round value and quality, while others might be more premium end products that offer the best tech in their field. For each category, we’ve also included a ‘Runner Up’ pick that, despite missing out on the top spot, is still very much worth your attention – and might actually be the better product for your particular needs. Without further ado, let’s see our winners.

Brand of the year: Nvidia

For gamers, Nvidia continues to dominate the graphics card market with its GeForce RTX series of GPUs, in particular given its dominant edge in both upscaling and frame generation tech (the most seismic change to gaming performance in quite some time), plus Ray-Tracing. Most of these breakthroughs came before 2024 however, and pale into insignificance next to the company's real power, which is in the development of AI technology. In 2024 the company strengthened its dominance in the AI sector through the introduction of the Blackwell B100 and B200 GPUs, the Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit that put AI development in the hands of smaller organizations, plus expanding collaborations in the healthcare and automotive industries. All this resulted in the company's market cap skyrocketing by nearly 150% over the course of the year, putting it in second place for biggest company in the world by market cap at over $3.4 trillion, superseding Microsoft and coming second only to Apple.

In close second for brand of the year is the first name in drone tech: DJI. The Chinese company Shenzhen DJI Sciences and Technologies Ltd. owns around 90% of the consumer drone market as of 2024 (it's no fluke that both our top pick and runner up choice for best drone of 2024 are both made by DJI). The company produces not only the sort of products that you or I might be interested in like the DJI Mini 4K or DJI Air 3S listed below, but also dominates the growing agricultural drone market and military market – both sides in the ongoing war in Ukraine make extensive use of DJI drones, which have been a huge game changer to contemporary warfare. Drone technology is guaranteed to change our lives in ways we can't yet foresee in the coming years, in close step with developments in AI tech, and DJI will continue to be the dominant player for at least the next few years.

Best over ear headphones: Bowers and Wilkins Px7 S2e

Our top pick for the best over-ear headphones of 2024 was technically released in Q4 2023, but given we didn't get our hands on them until this year, and because they're simply that good, we're still giving it to the Bowers and Wilkins Px7 S2e. Although they're beaten by the Bose QuietComfort Ultra when it comes to Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), in every other area they're basically the perfect headphones: with terrific sound quality when listening to music, TV, films, and gaming, and also when taking calls. Wireless performance is great, they're very comfortable, and look great too.

In close second place comes the aforementioned Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, which may still be your top choice if you prioritise having the best ANC quality. They're not as strong when it comes to filtering out background noises during calls, and the general audio quality for music etc. isn't quite as good as the Bowers and Wilkins model.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Bluetooth Headphones, Wireless Headphones with Spatial Audio, Over Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones with Mic, Up to 24 Hours of Battery Life, White Smoke

Best earbuds for sound quality: Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 aren't quite the best out there when it comes to ANC or call quality, but for general sound quality and especially value for money, they are terrific. The audio quality when playing music or watching other audio-visual media is up there with the best, and yet they're $200 cheaper than the competing Bowers & Wilkins Pi8, which takes our runner-up slot – that's a lot of money and these earbuds are consequently an excellent buy.

If you don't want to skimp on quality despite the cost then the Bowers & Wilkins Pi8 are still an excellent pick. They do lack different eartip options or a ‘fit test' within the dedicated software, so we suggest seeing if they fit your ear size before you buy, but in terms of general audio quality and call quality they are exceptional.

Best earbuds for working out: Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2

The first generation of the Jabra Elite 8 Active was already one of the best earbuds for working out: with good quality sound, top-level waterproofing and dust-proofing, and great durability. The latest generation is even better though: they're a bit smaller, and fit more securely in the ear, come with improved noise cancelling and HearThrough mode. You'll also get around 8 hours of battery life at full charge.

For a significantly cheaper air-conduction option, the Shokz OpenFit Air also come with solid audio quality and waterproofing, a fairly secure fit, and a reasonable battery duration (around six hours). The touch controls are a bit limited and finicky to use, but besides this you get a lot for your money with this product.

Best mouse for work: Logitech MX Master 3S

If you're looking for an ergonomic productivity mouse with excellent customization, then you won't go wrong with the Logitech MX Master 3S (providing you're right handed that is, lefties will have to look elsewhere sadly). The inbuilt thumb rest provides excellent support for lengthy working sessions, the sensitivity is very customizable, the buttons entirely remappable, and you get two scroll wheels – one horizontal, one vertical. It can connect to three different devices simultaneously, either via Bluetooth or using the USB dongle, and the overall build quality is terrific.

In runner-up position comes the 3Dconnexion CadMouse Pro Wireless, which is specifically designed with CAD software users in mind. Its specialist controls include a gesture button behind the mouse wheel that opens a customizable radial menu, plus a ‘Smart Scroll' feature and button mapping, though it does lack tilt inputs which may disappoint some.

Best keyboard: Keychron Q6 Max

The best keyboard of 2024 in our opinion is the Keychron Q6 Max, from the challenger brand that are providing more affordable boards with a premium typing experience. If you’re in the market for a high-performance, full-sized wireless keyboard that balances gaming and productivity, this board is ideal – especially when paired with Gateron Jupiter Red switches, though the full hot-swappability makes experimenting with different switches very easy. For typing it's very comfortable, thanks to its silky-smooth keystrokes, satisfying ‘thock', and high-quality OSA keycaps. The keyboard feels sturdy (though it does weigh a lot too), and the various color options (including side-printed keys) look great. The software is solid and the keyboard is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux setups alike!

In second place for best keyboard of the year is a more compact 65% size offering from German challenger brand Engame Gear – their first attempt at a keyboard and a very impressive one it is. The board has extremely good build quality and feels solid as a rock, plus comes with Ducky PBT Doubleshot keycapsDucky PBT Doubleshot keycaps that feel great to use. What truly sets the KB65HE apart however is its use of Hall Effect switches: these innovative magnetic switches allow for a programmable actuation distance to meet your preferences in different scenarios. The top-notch onboard software makes tweaking this plus other settings a breeze.

Best laptop: Microsoft Surface Laptop (2024)

For the first time in a good few years, our pick for best general productivity laptop is not going to a MacBook (though one is in close second place). The 7th generation Microsoft Surface Laptop, released in 2024, has had a significant overhaul: with a lighter, slimmer chassis, an upgraded display, a more powerful Snapdragon Elite X processor, and improved battery life (c.19-20 hours). The keyboard is also excellent for typing on in productivity scenarios. Unlike the competing MacBook Air you can upgrade the M.2 storage past the point of purchase, and the higher RAM and SSD loadouts are available for slightly cheaper than the Apple device.

That being said, the 2024 MacBook Air comes in close second place, and may be the preferred option for those who find MacOS the preferable operating system. It has a slightly higher res display with better contrast and color accuracy, though the priciness of those storage and RAM upgrades does continue to sting.

Best tablet: Honor Pad 9

The Honor Pad 9 isn't perfect, but for a value-for-money tablet, it’s very impressive indeed and takes the prize for tablet of the year. In terms of looks, overall build quality, and the quality of its display (which reaches 120Hz max refresh rate and over 500 nits of brightness) it's up there with the iPad 10th gen. The user interface (which is based on MagicOS) is also slick and a pleasure to use. The cameras and speakers aren't particularly great, but for the price, it's a terrific general-use mid-range tablet that will suit your average consumer.

In runner-up position comes a different beast – the OnePlus Pad 2, which is more of a premium offering, up there in the same bracket as the iPad Pro. The 12.1” 3.5K display has the size and resolution to allow multiple window tasks, plus a nice a 144Hz max refresh rate and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset that can easily handle Android gaming. Unfortunately, the cameras are a bit lacking and you have to buy the stylus separately, but besides this, it's a quality device.

Best CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

In possibly our least controversial pick of this list, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has firmly established itself as the top processor of 2024, at least as far as gaming goes. Building on the success of its predecessors – the much-lauded 7800X3D from the year prior and the from 5800X3D before that – this chip leverages AMD’s groundbreaking 3D V-cache technology to deliver remarkable gaming performance beyond what just looking at its core count alone would suggest. This latest generation processor comes with improvements in both cooling and efficiency compared to the generation before. While gaming remains its primary strength, this processor has also seen a boost to multicore performance, making it better suited for productivity tasks and software compared to earlier models.

In second place we have another AMD processor – the Ryzen 7 9700X, which isn't quite as exciting as our top pick, but is available for substantially less money, particularly if you can get one on sale, and still manages to soundly beat the Intel competition. The single-core performance for this CPU isn't far off the substantially more expensive 9950X flagship, even though this does (unsurprisingly) trounce it in multi-core scenarios.

AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D, 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency , 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz

AMD Ryzen 7 9700X

AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor, 5.5 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 40 MB cache, DDR5-5600 support

Best GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super

Of all the SUPER upgrades to the Nvidia 40-series GeForce graphics cards, the RTX 4070 Super offers the best price/performance and is (as of late 2024) the GPU we most recommend for gamers playing at 1440p/1600p resolution. Besides the raw FPS generated by the CUDA cores alone, if you're playing a game that can enable Nvidia's DLSS Frame Generation tech you could enjoy a performance uplift of 100-300% depending on the specific title. Nvidia cards continue to have the edge with Ray-Tracing tech as well.

Alternatively, if you're planning on dabbling in a bit of 4K gaming, or want a graphics card that will play whatever game you throw at it on maximum settings with no issues at all, then the RTX 4080 Super is probably the right pick for you. Although it only performs about 5% better in FPS terms than the original RTX 4080 in the most favourable conditions, it does so with a $200 lower price tag and with greater power efficiency, meaning less demand on your PSU as well as your wallet.

Best motherboard: MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max

If you want a fairly affordable, but still very capable AM5 motherboard to go with your new Ryzen 9000 series processor, then the MAG B850 Tomahawk Max from MSI gets our motherboard of the year award for this very reason. The 14+2+1 80A SPS provides a solid threshold for overclocking and the main PCIe Gen 5 x16 slot for the GPU and two PCIe Gen 5 M.2s for storage are nice and fast. It might lack USB 4 connectivity, but still comes with three 10Gbps USB Type-C sockets. The ceiling for RAM overclocking caps out at an impressive 8,400 MT/s. It also comes with the latest EZ screwless solutions that make installing components a breeze.

For those after a truly premium AM5 board that doesn’t skimp on any features and gives you maximum future-proofing, the MSI MEG X870E Godlike lives up to its name. It comes with everything the MAG B850 does plus a whole lot more. The 24+2+1 VRM and 110A smart power stage give you massive headroom for CPU overclocking. You get a 10G ethernet port and a 5G one, a second PCIe 5.0 x8 slot from the CPU, and even more USB ports, including full USB 4 implementation and two 40Gbps USB-C ports plus five 10Gbps ones. It also comes with three more M.2 slots, a higher 9,000 MT/s ceiling for RAM overclocking, and an EZ Control Hub for all your fan headers and RGB. The only downside of this board is the rather hefty price tag.

Best gaming monitor: AOC Q27G3XMN

The AOC Q27G3XMN wins our top spot for gaming monitor of the year because it has a hugely impressive array of specs for a budget-friendly price; indeed it's one of the best value monitors we've ever seen. The 27-inch 1440p screen has a 180Hz max refresh rate plus a great 1ms response time, making it great for fast-paced gaming. The VA panel is paired with Mini-LED backlighting, giving it a very high 630nits peak brightness, or a (still solid) 410 nits when local dimming is enabled. The aforementioned local dimming (336-zone) gives it an excellent contrast ratio, plus enhanced color accuracy (it's 100% sRGB compliant so you can even do color work in this space).

If however you're looking for something bigger, at a higher resolution, and don't mind spending a bit more cash, the Alienware AW3225QF is a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor that stands out for its exceptional performance and minimal drawbacks. It has all the advantages common to OLED displays (extremely fast response times and an effectively perfect contrast ratio) and the addition of a Quantum Dot layer takes its color reproduction to the next level. This monitor boasts 100% coverage of both the sRGB and DCI-P3 gamuts, alongside outstanding color accuracy, making it ideal for both gaming and creative work. The inclusion of Dolby Vision further enhances the viewing experience for supported content, delivering richer and more dynamic visuals. For gamers, the AW3225QF excels with its lightning-fast response times and a 240Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth, immersive gameplay. As with most Alienware products, the monitor features a sleek, premium design and excellent build quality.

Best TV: Samsung QN90D

The Samsung's QN90D is a mini-LED TV that excels in fast motion performance, making it ideal for fast-paced sports, console gaming, or PC gaming as well as your more typical movie and TV watching. It comes with a peak refresh rate of 144Hz and four HDMI 2.1 ports capable of supporting 4K resolution at this refresh rate (though current consoles are limited to 120Hz). It also features FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring smooth gameplay with minimal screen tearing and has additional features like the Gaming Hub, which provides easy access to cloud gaming services such as Xbox Live and GeForce Now.

If you’re considering an OLED TV and are willing to invest more cash, another Samsung TV, the S95D is our runner-up choice for best TV of 2024. The S95D features a 4K QD-OLED panel that incorporates a Quantum Dot layer, enhancing color reproduction and brightness. THe QD-OLED panel provides an unbeatable contrast ratio, and comes with peak brightness of around 1,600 nits in a 10% HDR window, providing bright and dynamic visuals, plus it comes with an ‘OLED Glare Free’  anti-reflective coating. It boasts an even more refined design than the QN90D and delivers exceptional picture quality, along with comparable gaming features, FreeSync Premium Pro once again, and the same 144Hz max refresh rate at 4K.

Best streaming gear: Elgato Facecam Neo

For streamers starting out, or even just for use as a general-purpose webcam, Elgato Facecam Neo offers a great mix of affordability, high-quality imaging, and user-friendly features. It’s essentially a budget-friendly webcam that doesn’t compromise much on essential functionality – punching well above its weight in terms of the asking price. The Facecam Neo captures Full HD 1080p video at 60 frames per second, ensuring smooth and detailed visuals. Its CMOS sensor and f/2.0 aperture contribute to impressive low-light performance, while the 77-degree field of view is well-suited for various streaming and conferencing setups. The autofocus feature, though a bit on the slow, is still nice to have in such a budget webcam. The camera is very easy to setup for first timers, the software is easy to navigate and yet offers a surprising degree of adjustability over settings like exposure and white balance etc.

The Shure MV6 microphone is another top contender in its price range, offering great build quality, impressive audio performance, and user-friendly features for a fairly budget price. One notable feature is the auto-leveling mode, which dynamically adjusts audio levels as you move around your workspace, which is particularly beneficial for streamers and podcasters who may not maintain a constant position relative to the microphone. The MV6’s dynamic capsule and cardioid polar pattern are optimized for speech and vocals, effectively isolating the user’s voice while minimizing background noise. The mic is fairly plug and play, but the app gives a nice level of customization, with settings like gain and tone levels plus the amount of noise reduction.

Best printer: Epson EcoTank ET-4850

In first place for printer of the year comes the Epson EcoTank ET-4850, which is a great home office/small-business all-in-one inkjet printer that comes with a refillable supertank – meaning much less cost spent on refilling it. You also get a decent amount of ink along with the printer in the box, which is exactly what we like to see. With this device you can fax, scan, and use it as a copying machine for up to a 30-page document. The overall print quality is well above average, although we'd recommend looking elsewhere if you're looking to print high-quality photographs with strong color-accuracy.

Luckily our runner-up pick is a photoprinter, specifically the Canon imagePrograf PRO-1100. This is a 17-inch paper width (C-size) printer, capable of printing paper up to 129 inches in length and has a fantastic quality finish to the photos it produces. Tech like air-feed paper handling plus anti-clogging functionality that swaps between nozzles both contribute to the quality of the finish, and the prints have a nice toughness and scratch resistance to them. Although it would have been nice to have a roll-paper option and it's certainly not cheap, there's not really much else you can say about this printer that's negative.

Best phone: Vivo X200 Pro

The high-end Vivo Pro phones have frequently been among the best when it comes to camera quality, but the Vivo X200 Pro excels not just in this area but also in terms of the usability of its operating system and UI and battery life. Besides having the best zoom and telephoto camera in the game, taken as a whole package including the asking price, it beats the likes of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The main downside is that it's not readily available in some geographical markets like the US.

In runner-up place comes the OnePlus 12, which is essentially a more affordable ‘premium-end' phone. The OnePlus 12 dispenses with some features like the latest AI tech and high-end water protection, plus the metal chassis of the Pro/Ultra phones from other brands, but in most other areas where it counts, namely battery life (which is superb), UI, processing power, and its eye-catching looks, it's a winner. When it comes to photography of human beings the camera excels – it still looks good for landscape shots but with color accuracy below that of competing models (if this matters to you). The main thing to consider before you buy this phone is the relatively short support life – 3 years or less is what you can expect, which is substantially below the seven promised by the competing Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones, but if you're planning on getting a new phone after this time has passed anyway then it's much of a muchness.

Best smartwatch: Samsung Galaxy Watch 7

It was a close race this year for the prize of best smartwatch, but the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 just pipped the competing Apple Watch to the post: ultimately the Samsung model is significantly cheaper so gets the win. It has a nice big, very bright (up to 2,000 nits) circular display and great health-tracking features like advanced bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and also blood oxygen sensor tech which Apple watches don't currently have activated in the US (due to a litigation issue). The Galaxy Watch 7 does have slightly disappointing battery life (around 24 hours) but its very fast charging helps counter this.

In (very) close second place comes the Apple Watch Series 10. In reality, there isn't a massive amount of difference between the two watches – aesthetically they look different but there's no clear winner here, it just depends on personal taste. The Apple Watch does have the advantage of an external speaker, plus some applications the Galaxy Watch lacks like the Tides app and depth gauge for swimming enthusiasts. Ultimately which watch you go with will likely be determined by what type of phone you have so you can link both devices in the same ecosystem, so if you're an iPhone user, this will likely be the pick for you, and you'll get the added benefit of improved battery life.

Best drone: DJI Mini 4K

The biggest name in drones released a batch of new products in 2024, but the DJI MIni 4K claimed the top spot as it's the drone that will be of most interest to most people, thanks to the fantastic value it offers. Capable of shooting 30FPS 4K video of a decent quality, or alternatively 2.7K or FHD video at 60FPS, in other respects it's pretty much identical to the previously released DJI Mini 2 SE, but this is no bad thing. The crucial drawback of this drone is its lack of collision detection, but that's the trade-off for being able to pick it up at such a reasonable price. If you're looking for something a bit more advanced then you'll need to spend a bit more cash.

For more experienced drone pilots after a more serious photography/videography drone, the DJI Air 3S takes our runner-up prize. An update over the already impressive DJI Air 3, the ‘S' variant has a larger sensor on one of its two cameras, better collision detection, a LiDAR sensor that makes it better for night flying, plus more automated flight paths (e.g. take-off and landing), making it easier to fly. You get about 45mins of battery life, plus two top-notch cameras: specifically one 12MP/50MP 1-inch CMOS wide-angle camera, plus a 48MP 1/1.3-inch CMOS medium-telephoto. The drone is capable of shooting up to 120FPS at 4K resolution or 240FPS at FHD.

Best smart home product: August Wi-Fi Smart Lock

Our best smart home category includes products across the whole gamut, and first place for 2024 is the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock. This device can detect whether or not your door is closed, using a sensor, send you notifications of this and whether it's locked/unlocked to your phone, auto-lock and auto-unlock features, plus grant limited guest access to people with the app at specific times. There are other competing products on the market but this August model excels in being quick and easy to set-up, having built-in WiDi, and very wide connectivity to a number of other smart home devices. The lock runs off two CR123 batteries which it's claimed will last for at least three months, depending on usage.

In runner-up position comes the Amazon Echo Hub which is a nice touchscreen panel device that can be mounted on a wall or on a stand (though you do have to buy this separately). The hub can connect to a wide variety of smart devices and is compatible with lots of brands, although Amazon devices (e.g. Ring cameras) do get additional functionality. As you'd expect the hub can be voice-activated besides the more conventional touch controls. The user interface is much more streamlined and easy to navigate compared to say the Alexa app, and you can easily switch between say a multi-camera feed view and altering the lighting in your home. Novel features like a proximity sensor which simplifies the display the further away you get and conversely adds more detail when you're close enough to read it add to the quality of the user experience.

Best soundbar: Samsung HW-Q990D

The Samsung HW-Q990D wins best soundbar of 2024 thanks to its well-balanced, high quality sound profile and versatility for every scenario you can throw at it. It has good customization options, SpaceFit Sound Pro to best fit your rooms acoustics, and supports Dolby Atmos. Wireless connectivity is great and it also has two HDMI 2.1 sockets, making it ideal for use with gaming consoles or PCs.

The LG S90TR is our runner-up pick for soundbar of the year, offering a substantially more affordable option than our top Samsung pick. Not to be confused with the more expensive S95TR flagship, the S90TR lacks HDMI 2.1 support and doesn't perform as well in terms of spacial audio and Dolby Atmos content – lacking in ‘height' due to having fewer upward-firing speakers. Still, in other scenarios it sounds great, both for dialogue in TV and movies and for playing music, and might be the right pick for you if you're looking to save some cash.

Best router: TP-Link Archer BE550

If you're in the market for a WiFi 7 router, the TP-Link Archer BE550, aka the TP-Link BE9300, is our top pick for the year thanks to its great range (big enough for a multi-storey house and back garden), fast speeds (supporting Dynamic Frequency Selection for improved speeds in congested environments), and good connectivity options for a fairly reasonable price. As a tri-band router it has access to 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands, plus comes with a whopping four 2.5Gbps LAN ports in addition to the 2.5Gbps WAN port, and also a USB 3.0 port for connecting storage should you wish. Although it's primarily meant to be a standalone model you can still set up a mesh network in your business or residence using EasyMesh.

Alternatively, if you don't mind being limited to the WiFi 6 standard and are looking for a gaming router then the ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 could be the one for you. This is a more compact device with more ‘gamer' stylings (though fairly tasteful in this case). It comes with impressive signal strength and penetration, plus a good range. The GT6 comes with VPN support and various in-built security features, plus QoS options to improve performance when gaming. AiMEsh allows you to easily setup a network should you wish with any other compatible ASUS router.

Best office chair: Branch Ergonomic Chair Pro

The Branch Ergonomic Chair Pro is a great-looking, fully adjustable chair that doesn't do much wrong. With the claimed 14 points of adjustment, you can optimize your positioning to your exact needs. There are multiple options for the material you can choose for your chair (mesh, leather, or vegan leather) along with multiple colors. It's a bit annoying that you have to buy the headrest separately, and/or the extended range cylinder if you're particularly tall, but besides this you get a decent amount for your money, including some adjustments you typically find only on more expensive chair. Finally, it comes with a nice 7 year warranty which is a testament to the quality of the chair.

For something a bit cheaper and a bit more compact you should also consider the Boulies NUBI office chair, which is designed specifically with tight spaces in mind. It doesn't have the massive adjustability of the Branch model above, but still has good adjustable seat depth and tilt and is very nice and comfortable.

Best Projector: LG CineBeam Q

Our top pick for the best projector of 2024 is the LG CineBeam Q, which combines a sleek, easily portable design with impressive functionality and great 4K picture quality. Capable of projecting images up to 120 inches, it has an RGB laser light source that delivers vibrant colors and supports HDR content. LG’s integrated webOS platform provides access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube, eliminating the need for external devices. It comes with a handy autofocus, is relatively easy to set up, and the small compact aluminium chassis and integrated handle make it easy to carry around. It's not the brightest projector out there, and the onboard speakers aren't great, but if you're pairing it with a soundbar or other speakers then this doesn't really matter.

In second place comes the BenQ X300G, which is another relatively compact 4K projector, which is particularly good for gaming thanks to its relatively low input lag (which isn't near what you'd get on a gaming monitor for the same price but is good for a projector). It's capable of 240Hz refresh rate at 1080p resolution or 60Hz at 4K. The in-built 2.1 channel speakers are better than those on the CineBeam Q, but we'd still recommend attaching to an external system for the most immersive experience. It comes with a 1.2x motorized optical zoom and as a short-throw projector is good at showing a large image at short distances from the screen/wall, but suffers when placed far away.
