PEAK climbs to Steam Deck top 10 following The Roots update, plus it’s on sale right now

The popular co-op climbing game, PEAK, recently received a big update from TEAM PEAK, which has brought along plenty of content. On top of that, the game is also listed with a big discount on Steam, and both of these have caused its popularity to surge, especially on the Steam Deck.
If you head over to the Steam Deck Top Played charts, you’ll find PEAK sitting comfortably in the 10th spot. It is currently above titles like Hollow Knight (which was top of the chart a few weeks ago), Hades, and Bortato. The game has climbed 28 positions to achieve this spot, which is a massive jump.

The biggest reason behind the sudden surge in its popularity is The Roots update, which was released last week, on November 5. This is the second Biome update released for the game, and it has made the game better than before.
For starters, there is a new Biome for players to explore: Roots. This is a shrouded redwood forest infested with mushrooms and creepy creatures. This biome features harsh winds that can quickly knock you off the cliffs, and you’ll need to survive against spiders, giant beetles, and even zombies. It is, however, important to keep in mind that Roots has replaced the Tropics Biome for the time being, and it will be available for every run until November 17. After that, the maps will rotate between Tropics and Roots.
Aside from the new Biome, the update has also added new items for you to use, such as the Rescue Claw, Checkpoint Flag, and Book of Bones. There are also Roots-specific items, such as Shroomberries, which give a random effect, depending on their color. Plus, there are 11 new badges to earn, 8 new emotes, and some bug fixes to improve the overall gameplay experience.
