CapFrameX, which boasts to be the “No. 1 Frame Time Tool” has just gotten a fresh update. Beta version v1.7.5 is here and brings along a few important patch notes if you’re interested in Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 50 series graphics cards. A few official benchmarks have been released, but only a handful of games were shown without DLSS 4 in effect – Far Cry 6 was one of them.

As such, there is still much to learn about performance uplift when it comes to pure rasterization (in other words, no help from AI). From what we know so far, the RTX 5090 will enjoy the biggest gains, but we’re still keen to see how the 5080, 5070, and 5070 Ti perform compared to the last generation.

If you want to download the new version, you can do so here on GitHub. There are only four patch notes to talk about, but it’s all great news for video card reviewers or those who want to keep a close eye on RTX 50 series performance. Both the 5090 and 5080 will be available from January 30th; the 5070 series cards are due to arrive in February.

As we can see from the graphic put out by Nvidia last week at CES 2025, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation means that the vast majority of your frames are AI-generated using this tech. When it comes to hardware reviews though, comparing ‘traditional render’ methods is often preferred – especially when comparing cards head-to-head.

With CapFrameX already supporting the new GPUs, we can be prepared to see exactly how these cards compare to the 40 series without help from Multi Frame Generation (MFG). MFG is locked to the 50 series, but DLSS 4 will at least be coming with some generational upgrades that provide a boost to all RTX GPUs.
