The Anbernic RG DS was officially announced last month, and ever since then, fans have been eager to get their hands on it. Pre-orders are now live for the handheld, which draws obvious inspiration from the Nintendo DS, albeit with dual circle pads. The company has also confirmed that shipping will begin before December 15, 2025, meaning you shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to start playing your favorite retro titles on the dual-screen handheld. The handheld does however ship from China.

Anbernic's official website lists the RG DS for pre-order, and it’s available in three color options: Black & Crimson Red, Turquoise Blue, and Polar White. The base model is priced at $93.99, down from the original $99.99, thanks to an introductory. The device is available in three different storage variants – all with small discounts right now:

What does the RG DS handheld offer?

The RG DS is packed with impressive features for its price. It's powered by the RK3568 Quad-core 64-bit Cortex-A55 CPU with a frequency of up to 2.0GHz, paired with an ARM G52 2EE GPU. It comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, and it runs on Android 14, which means you can install apps and games directly from the Google Play Store. One of its biggest highlights is the dual 4-inch IPS HD displays with multi-touch support and stylus compatibility.

In terms of connectivity, the RG DS supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2. It also supports over 20 different emulator types, letting you play thousands of classic games. The 4000mAh battery promises up to six hours of gameplay, while high-fidelity stereo dual speakers, a built-in microphone, vibration motor, and six-axis gyroscope make the experience even better. Each unit also comes with useful accessories like a Type-C charging cable, stylus, screen protector, and user manual.
