Just a few days ago, an MSI BIOS update mentioned adding support for a future CPU. With a bunch of 9000G processors expected down the line, they seem a bit far away for this BIOS to be required now, and with only a singular mention, it would seem it’s something else.

Well, the forums and leakers are talking about what that CPU might be, and it seems likely to be the Ryzen 7 9700F. In an X thread, @9550pro initially posted about it being an F SKU of the 9000 series, which would mean a processor without integrated graphics.

Then @Zed_Wang posted about it being the 9700F. The middle-of-the-pack processor would be the equivalent of the 9700X, but for a bit cheaper.

When and what can you expect from the 9700F

With the BIOS already released, it wouldn’t surprise us to see the CPU released in the coming weeks or months. That would be a great addition to the 9000 series lineup, as it would have the same specs as the 9700X but without the iGPU, making it cheaper. It might drop below the $300 mark, as the X model is already on sale for $304.

This could be another addition to AMD’s lineup that offers a budget-friendly CPU for those seeking to maximize their PC build’s performance. If you don’t want to splurge on the X3D and prefer a couple of extra cores over the Ryzen 5 range, the 9700F can serve as a stepping stone, allowing you to save money when you use a graphics card alongside the processor.
