RTX 4070 GPUs may be difficult to find as RTX 5070 launch nears, stock could soon be “completely cleared”
We are just weeks away from the launch of the RTX 50 series, and as we get closer to the release date, more information about the future of the RTX 40 series continues to surface. Previously, leaks suggested that Nvidia's entire RTX 4070 lineup could be discontinued by the end of the year to make way for the 50 series, and now we have an update. According to posts on Board Channels providing updates on the RTX 4070 situation, the graphics card is expected to be completely sold out by the end of January.
While availability might vary by region, gamers now face the decision of either upgrading or sticking with the existing 40 series models. Considering the RTX 5070 is set to debut at just $549 with performance levels approaching last-gen flagship standards, it may be more sensible to wait for that rather than opting for the RTX 4070 or 4070 Super, which currently retail for around $500–$600. Here’s what the post on Board Channels had to say:
“The inventory for NVIDIA RTX 4070 and higher models is expected to be completely cleared by January. Starting from February, major AIC brands are anticipated to have stock remaining only for the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 series, which still need to be digested. However, since NVIDIA's Q1 begins in February, these two models will essentially enter the final stock phase.”

Upcoming RTX 5060 series could also result in limited 4060 & 4060 Ti stock
The post also shares details about two more GPUs from the RTX 40 series lineup: the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060. It claims that while major AIC brands are said to have some stock of these cards, they are expected to enter their final stock phase during Q1. This post suggests that NVIDIA will cease production of the RTX 4060 non-Ti during this timeframe, with further updates anticipated following the scheduled launch of the RTX 5070 in February.

Pricing for the RTX 5060 series GPUs remains uncertain, as NVIDIA has not announced them yet. Currently, the 5060 is rumored to feature just 8GB of VRAM – something that many people may find to be hard to adjust an upgrade to. As such, the availability of the RTX 4060 series dwindling will surely leave many budget PC builders with a dilemma moving forward.
