Nvidia is yet to officially address the burning cable issues seen in the new RTX 50 series GPUs, leaving partners or hardware enthusiasts to develop their own solutions. One recent example came from Hardware Busters, who created a 16-pin prototype connector with Over Temperature Protection (OTP) and Over Current Protection (OCP) to address these power issues. While the prototype isn't out yet, Hardware Busters has provided another exciting update on the matter.

Hardware Busters is collaborating with Gamers Nexus and could end up developing a better solution to address the RTX 50 series power cable and connector melting issues. For those unaware, Gamers Nexus is a popular tech channel on YouTube that covers PC hardware reviews, game benchmarks, and component analysis. Details of this collaboration remain behind closed doors for now, but Hardware Busters has been getting accustomed to the studio.

A few major PSU brands are also involved

According to a post on their website, Hardware Busters took a trip to Gamers Nexus’s lab in the US, and in the coming weeks, several videos covering what they worked on there will be released. So far, Hardware Busters has only uploaded one technical video, which isn’t about the power connector issue but instead focuses on noise measurements with the RTX 5070 Ti. However, the “main project,” which we hope is related to the meltdown issue, hasn’t been shared just yet.

“Many thanks to our mega sponsor, Montech, and our two additional sponsors, FSP and Super Flower, for helping with our trip to the US to investigate the RTX 50 meltdown further!”

That said, one interesting detail here is that the collaboration between these creators isn't the only highlight. Hardware Busters also noted that major power supply brands like Montech, FSP, and Super Flower were involved in supporting their trip to the U.S. to further investigate the RTX 50 meltdown. Hardware Busters has stated that details will be shared soon, but the fact that all these experts are coming together to finally address the RTX 50 series meltdown is big news for GPU owners.
