It’s great news at Samsung HQ as they announce a huge milestone – over 1 million QD-OLED panels for monitors have been shipped. That includes the very latest, boasting OLED panels up to 4K and refresh rates up to 360Hz, powering the current generation of display technology. This has been announced in a press release on the Samsung Display site, proudly talking about how the technology has developed since first arriving in 2022.

With this milestone checked off the list, we don’t see any signs of them slowing down – especially with multiple Samsung displays due to hit the market pretty soon. Let’s take a look at how they’ve been getting on.

What QD-OLED monitors are Samsung releasing this year?

In 2024, we’re still waiting for their new OLED G6, OLED G8, and OLED G9 monitors, all of which will be using a QD-OLED panel. While we mentioned 4K and 360Hz in our introduction, don’t be fooled into thinking you can get these both at the same time. As of now, 240Hz seems to be the limit for 4K OLED panels, but it’s the 1440p tier that benefits from the full 360Hz for competitive gamers.

Are QD-OLED gaming monitors still relevant?

Do note that we’re not even talking about QD-OLED TVs here, it’s panels for monitors alone to reach over 1 million. It’s a huge achievement and seems to prove that production isn’t slowing down. With three new monitors on the way from Samsung directly and a number of other manufacturers utilizing their QD-OLED tech, it is still highly relevant. It seems like its war against LG’s comparable WOLED panel will rage on, and we can’t wait to see what the next generation brings.
