The Samsung Odyssey series isn’t a stranger to having excellent monitors among its ranks, but Samsung, yet again, upped the game with its latest G80SD monitor. The OLED G8, however, isn’t the only monitor as Samsung made the entire new OLED lineup (and more) available for pre-order. Plus they’re running a $300 Samsung credit bonus promotion.

So, depending on your budget, you could get your hands on any of the Odyssey OLED monitors. The G8 will set you back $1,299, which is a small fortune, but it could be a worthwhile investment.

What does the Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED bring to the table?

The Samsung Odyssey G8 features a 32” OLED UHD panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time. While these specifications are impressive and should result in a smooth and crisp experience, whether you’re gaming or watching movies, that isn’t the main driving point for this monitor.

This monitor comes with an NQ8 AI Gen3 processor that upscales lower resolutions in gaming and other content to “nearly” 4K, as Samsung states. This feature is accessible via the Gaming Hub or the Smart TV app, meaning it won’t work on everything, and the selection is limited to platforms like Netflix or Xbox Game Pass.

It features an Easy Setup stand that streamlines the installation process. It also has a sleek metal design with an RGB ring with CoreLighting+ at the back to enhance your setup’s aesthetic.

Besides ease of installation, its stand also enables it to tilt, swivel, pivot, and adjust its height so you can have the perfect orientation according to your requirements.

The Samsung Odyssey G8 also features a connectivity hub at the back, which includes a PC in port, two USB and HDMI ports, one Displayport, and a power plug-in port. So, whether you want to game at 144Hz or experience the full 240Hz of this monitor, you simply need to switch between the HDMI and Displayport to get that.

Additional features of the OLED Samsung Odyssey G8

OLED monitors are notorious and prone to burn-in issues, and to counter that, Samsung included the OLED Safeguard+ feature, which helps prevent burn-in via Dynamic Cooling and Thermal Modulation.

It also comes with glare-free technology, which helps avoid glare from other light sources and enhances the monitor’s black and other colors for a pleasant viewing experience. To further sweeten the deal, Samsung also included AMD FreesSync Premium Pro, which syncs the monitor’s refresh rate and GPU’s performance to provide a lag-free and seamless gaming experience.
