Sea of Thieves Steam release is imminent

As Microsoft moves more and more toward the ‘play anywhere’ tagline, their first-party games have slowly been making their way onto PC gaming juggernaut Steam. Back in May of 2019, they announced that the Master Chief Collection, including Halo Reach, was going to be released on the platform, with an assumption that other titles will follow. Phil Spencer stated:

“Enabling gamers to play together, through cross-platform play and cross-network play across Windows 10 PCs and console, is vitally important. Building communities across all of those players, regardless of the store or platform they’ve chosen (console or PC), is also vitally important because it helps bring players together, allows games to find their largest audience and allows gaming to deliver its true potential of uniting people around the power of play.”

We now get to see those words in action. Sea of Thieves, rumored to have been coming to Steam for a short while, has finally created and updated the game page with a release date of “coming soon”. Of course, this doesn’t imply that the game will be available for download tomorrow, but what it does suggest is that the release is somewhat imminent.

We’re hoping this breathes new life into the pirate adventure game in which Rare has seen varied success. See on the high seas, matey!
