The Nintendo Switch 2 offers many features that help provide a great gaming experience, but it turns out you can also crash the device yourself. A user on Reddit discovered a strange bug that can instantly crash the console. They weren’t asking for help to fix it; they just wanted to point out something unusual they came across while playing around with the settings.

This bug can make your Nintendo Switch 2 crash

According to the video posted by KMAN_COOL_17 on Reddit, the bug gets triggered when you mess with the Amiibo settings on the Switch 2. To do it, the user went into System Settings and scrolled down to the Amiibo section. After that, they tapped on “Enter Owner and Nickname”, which is normally used to set or change the name of an Amiibo. But instead of continuing the process, they just pressed the back button.

The user then repeated this step three times, but on the third try, the system completely crashed. The screen then showed an error message with the code 2162-0002. The error message simply said, “There was a problem,” and it asked the user to press the power button to restart the console. Or you can hold it down for about 12 seconds to force the system to shut down.

Even though this might sound like a fun little trick, we don't recommend trying it on your own device. Crashing a console on purpose, even with a small bug like this, can sometimes lead to unexpected issues. It could cause system files to become damaged or even hurt the hardware in rare cases. Also, since this is a new device, we don't yet know how serious this crash could be. Either way, if this issue is widely reproducible, then we expect Nintendo to address it soon.

In other news, early Nintendo Switch 2 sales numbers recently soared past 5.4 million. For comparison, the original Nintendo Switch sold 2.74 million units in its first month, and its successor has doubled that number.
