The Steam Deck is one of the most popular handheld gaming devices today. It lets you play PC games anywhere, whether you’re on the couch, traveling, or even lying in bed. But while gaming in bed sounds relaxing, holding the Steam Deck in the air for long periods can quickly lead to arm fatigue, which kind of ruins the fun.

Since there isn’t an official accessory designed to solve this problem, a creative user named ReplicaRafts has come up with a solution you can make yourself. It’s called the Rest Deck, and it’s a 3D-printable mount/stand designed specifically for the Steam Deck, though it also works with the Nintendo Switch and even tablets.

Rest Deck is designed for Steam

As its name suggests, the Rest Deck helps you rest the device so your arms don’t have to carry all the weight. According to ReplicaRafts, many players found that using the Steam Deck in bed becomes uncomfortable after just 20 to 30 minutes. The Rest Deck is designed to fix that by offering two different ways to use it.

In the Standard Support Mode, you hold the Steam Deck as usual, but the arms of the Rest Deck support most of the weight. This means your wrists and forearms don’t have to do all the heavy lifting, making longer gaming sessions much more comfortable. But in the Full Rest Mode, using the center legs, you can rest the Steam Deck completely on your bed or torso. In this mode, you don’t need to hold the device at all, and you can use a wireless controller instead.

Printing instructions recommend a 0.20mm layer height, and a recent update has even improved the design to prevent wear marks on the Steam Deck or skins attached to it. To make things easier for everyone, the creator has shared a complete manual, which includes the printing instructions here. For those interested, the files are available on Cults3D, and you’ll need to pay $4.99.
