Finally, Sony is making it possible to pair your DualSense wireless controller to multiple devices without having to go through the pairing process each and every time you switch to another device. In an official PlayStation blog post, Sony says that the update will be available for beta participants tomorrow (July 24th). If you want to opt in, you can check out the PlayStation Beta Program right here.

For gamers who use their PS5 controller on multiple devices, this is a very welcome change. For example, if you own a PS5, gaming PC, and Steam Deck, then you can assign all of them as connected devices and switch between them directly from your controller using a combination of buttons.

Assign your DualSense controller to up to 4 devices

Pairing your PS5 controller to multiple devices wirelessly is simple. The instructions are as follows:

  1. Make sure the light bar and player indicator on your controller is off. If they’re turned on, press and hold the PS button until they turn off.
  2. Press and hold one of the action buttons (triangle, circle, cross, or square) and the PS button for over 5 seconds. The light bar and player indicator flash two times.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth® on your device, and select the option to add Bluetooth® devices. Your device detects nearby Bluetooth® devices.
  4. Select your controller from the detected devices. The light bar lights up, and the player indicator’s lights blink according to the slot number.

How do you switch between them?

To switch between your assigned devices, you can use a two-button combination by holding the PS button and the action button you assigned it to for “about 3 seconds”.
