There are plenty of great gaming monitors for PS5, ideal for anyone who has their console set up at a desk. After all, not everyone prefers a living room setup for gaming. Sony is now releasing an official PlayStation gaming monitor, which is designed with this audience in mind, and it doubles up as a fantastic option for PC gamers too.

The 27-inch display features a 1440p (2560 x 1440) resolution and offers an up to 240Hz refresh rate. However, since the PS5 only capable of supporting 120Hz, that’s what you’ll have to settle for on the console. For those with a gaming PC to hook it up to, you’ll benefit from the full 240Hz.

PlayStation 27″ gaming monitor specs & features

Sony has only provided a “first look” so far, but a good chunk of the key specs and features have been unveiled regardless. Like many other Sony monitors and TVs, Auto HDR Tone Mapping is supported on your PS5 or PlayStation 5 Pro console. There is also support for variable refresh rate (VRR) for smooth visuals. One stand-out feature is the built-in charging dock (or “hook”), which you can hang your DualSense controller on for charging.

  • A Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS display up to 2560 x 1440 resolution, so players can game at a comfortable viewing distance from their desk.
  • High Dynamic Range support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping that automatically adjusts HDR settings during setup on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, ensuring rich and vivid picture quality.
  • VRR support and refresh rates of up to 120 Hz for smooth and seamless gameplay on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, and 240 Hz on compatible PC and Mac devices.
  • A built-in Charging Hook for a DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller (sold separately) that makes it easy for players to get right into gaming.

The 27″ gaming monitor positions itself as the perfect option for anyone who has their PlayStation 5 and gaming PC set up at the same desk. If you don’t have your console in the living room and a decent gaming TV to go along with it, it only makes sense to pair it with a gaming monitor that can deliver smooth visuals, and with the charging hook, a new place to dock your controller while you’re not gaming.
