The cheapest RTX 5090 we could find at this popular U.S. retailer is still $500 over MSRP
The RTX 5090 was released earlier this year. Shortly after launch, it faced low stock issues, which led to scalpers listing the card on third-party platforms at absurd prices. While the stock situation has somewhat improved, most people in the United States still can’t grab the flagship model at MSRP or even slightly above it.
If you head over to Newegg, you’ll find several RTX 5090 models listed from different board partners, such as Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, and more. However, the prices are well above the MSRP. Sure, third-party models cost a bit more due to their extra features, but the cheapest (new) card on Newegg is the Zotac Gaming Solid RTX 5090, listed for $2,499.99. For those who don't know, the official MSRP of the card is $1,999, so the least expensive model is $500 more. It’s a similar situation on Amazon.
- Zotac Gaming Solid RTX 5090 – $2,499.99
- Zotac Solid OC RTX 5090 (open box) – $2,424.99

Even the open box version of the Zotac Solid OC RTX 5090 is listed for $2,424.99, which isn’t much cheaper. Open box items have previously been opened and may have been slightly used. Newegg inspects such items thoroughly before listing them on the site. A reason many people prefer them is that they can help save them a good amount of money. However, with a brand new variant priced only $76 higher, most will avoid choosing this particular open box model.

On the other hand, if you live in the UK, there's some good news. Right now, Overclockers UK, a popular online retailer, is offering four RTX 5090 models for less than MSRP. Much like Newegg’s ‘open box’, these are B Grade models, meaning they may be used and missing some accessories. However, the cards work perfectly, and Overclockers also provides a six-month warranty.
In any case, it's hard to tell when the RTX 5090 will drop closer to MSRP in the U.S. For now, it's still quite expensive, and many PC enthusiasts will continue to wait for a price drop so they can finally afford it. Some Nvidia fans have had luck with the Priority Access program recently, which is one way to get the RTX 5090 for MSRP.
