We’ve already recently seen the wonders of the Raspberry Pi mini Macintosh computer, but another crafty individual has used a Raspberry Pi 5, along with a bit of 3D-printing magic, to make his very own Minecraft server. The rig comes with the following specs:

  • 256 GB M.2 2230 SSD for storage, connected via an M.2‑to‑PCIe adapter.
  • An actively cooled heatsink whose fan ramps up and down with the board’s temperature, aided by four ‘always‑on’ case fans for extra airflow.
  • 128 × 64‑pixel SH1106 OLED screen that can cycle through server stats, or even loop tiny GIFs, so you instantly know how many players are online and how the hardware is holding up.

Everything fits neatly inside the printed enclosure, giving the Raspberry Pi a purpose‑built home for hosting block‑building adventures (or whatever you personally decide to use it for). You can see what the finished product looks like in the image gallery below – pretty neat! All images are sourced from DavidSoy’s page on Maker World, where you can download the printible files and read how to construct this little case.

What is a Raspberry Pi?

A Raspberry Pi is a small, low-cost, single-board computer developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a UK-based charity. It was originally designed to promote computer science education, particularly in schools and developing countries, but its versatility has made it hugely popular far beyond that.

  • Affordable: There are a good number of different variants now, but models range in price from around $20/£10 (Pi Zero) to about $120/£80 (Pi 5), though this can vary further depending on the included components/features.
  • Compact size: Rasberry Pi computers are roughly the size of a credit card, yet capable of running full operating systems like Linux or Raspberry Pi OS.
  • High power efficiency: They are powered by a highly efficient ARM CPU, which is the type of processor found in smartphones and tablets, which require longer battery life.
  • A surprising amount of ports & peripherals: despite their diminutive size, Raspberry Pis typically come with several USB ports, a HDMI output, a microSD card slot, GPIO pins (for electronics projects), and Ethernet/Wi-Fi support.
