There’s already a cheaper Nintendo Switch 2 camera that makes the official one look boring

With the reveal that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a live-chat feature that includes the ability to use a webcam, some people are already considering how to change their room to incorporate a webcam. This task might be made easier with the newly announced third-party Switch 2 camera from Hori.
During the Nintendo Direct presentation, the Switch 2 was announced. One of the major new features was GameChat, an alternative to Discord that is built right into the console. Not only does GameChat support voice chat and screen sharing, but users can even use a USB-C camera for video chat.
An official first-party camera was introduced during the Nintendo Direct, and it is a generic black webcam on a small stand. Third-party peripheral maker Hori has apparently decided this is not good enough and has created a USB-C webcam that looks like the iconic Piranha Plant from the Super Mario Bros franchise.
Hori’s Piranha Plant camera is much cooler
The Hori Piranha Plant is mounted on a stand that looks like one of the Warp Pipes, and the camera is located within the mouth of the plant. Users can close the plant mouth to hide the camera when not in use and protect it from dust and grease. The camera can be removed from the base and plugged directly into the console for handheld mode.
The Hori Switch 2 camera is already available for pre-order in Germany, where it is priced at €39.99 (or roughly $44). Availability and pricing information for other regions is not yet available. For comparison, the official Switch 2 camera is priced at $49.99.
This is not likely to be the only third-party Switch 2 webcam on the market, but it has a good head start on being the coolest. If you have to have a webcam attached to your console, you can at least make sure it looks good.
