Baldur’s Gate 3 is a huge game full of characters and choices, but not every storyline gets the ending it deserves. One example is Rugan, a Zhentarim agent you meet in Act 1. After helping him in the early game, he promises to meet you later for a drink, but that never actually happens. Thankfully, a new mod, created by user Nikjima on Nexus Mods, now fixes this and brings Rugan back in Act 3 with brand-new dialogue and interactions.

In the base game, Rugan disappears after Act 1, even though he says he’ll catch up with you later at the Elfsong Tavern. This mod changes that. Now, if you meet certain conditions during Act 1, Rugan will reappear in Act 3 inside the Guildhall, alongside the other Zhents. While he won’t be at the Elfsong as he originally promised, it’s still great to finally see him again and continue his story.

The mod adds a full conversation with him. You’ll be able to talk to Rugan with multiple dialogue choices. There’s even a dice roll moment where you can persuade him to leave his post and go upstairs to the bar. So yes, that long-promised drink is finally possible, if you do everything right.

This mod only works if you kept Rugan safe and allowed him to do his job in Act 1. First, you must have defeated the gnolls at the cave and made sure Rugan survived. Second, you didn’t steal the locked chest or flask from him, and he delivered it peacefully to Zarys. If Rugan was tortured by his fellow Zhents or if you killed him in the hideout, he won’t return in Act 3.

Also, you don’t need to start a new game. The mod works even on older saves where you’ve already visited the Guildhall. However, if you load a save where the Zhents have already turned on the Guild and the Guild wins the fight, Rugan will show up as an enemy. Sadly, in that case, you won’t be able to talk to him, and he’ll die during combat.
