If your Excel work is lacking that extra oomph and efficiency, then one Redditor might have just given you a quick fix for improving your experience. u/Objective_Trifle240 recently posted about their custom Excel toolkit aimed at boosting productivity. Simply add all these functions to the toolbar so you can click a button to make things happen that are just missing as a nice to have in the program.
Although at the time of writing the post has been removed, you can still access Google Drive with the extension. With both the files and docs explaining what they are and how to use them, with some good documentation, it gives you a good addition to the standard Excel guides.
Custom Microsoft Excel toolkit – added functions explained
There is a whole toolbar of functions added in this custom addition, so there is quite a bit to go through and what each of them actually does. Below is a screenshot of what to expect when you add it to your Excel, and we’ll go through each of them as given by the author of the mod.
- 80% AS – Sets all sheets to 80% zoom
- CS 80% + No Grid – Current sheet set to 80% zoom and removes gridlines
- Remove Grid AS – Removes frid lines from all sheets
- AS Set Home – Set all visible sheets to A1 (home)
- Convert To Text – Converts selected cells to text
- Text To Numbers – Converts selected cells to numbers
- Find Formula Cells – Highlights all cells with formulas in them
- Find Non-Formula Cells – Highlights all cells without a formula in them
- Auto Font Colour – Netrulizes color highlighted in the above two find options
- Refresh Filter – Refreshes the selected filter to the last data cell in your sheet
- Freeze Formula References – Freeze the reference in the formula, change to absolute with $ insert
- Unfreeze Formula References – Unfreezes reference formula, in the cells
- Format Pivot – Formats the pivot table with the likes of decimal points, only column total, repeat items, no width auto adjustments on refresh
- Update Pivot – Choose to refresh the pivots, either selected one, all on the current sheet or in the whole file
- Un/Hide Sheets – Opens a popup window where you can select each sheet to then hide/unhide/delete
- Sheet List – Creates a new sheet with the list of all the sheets and their visibility status
- Un/Hide basis list – Updates visibility status dependent on the drop-down from the sheet list
- IFerror Wrap – Applies iferror formula to selected cells
- External Links Working – Shows the links actually being used in the visible sheets
- Replicate workbook VS – Replicates current Excel file but only the visible sheets, does remove cells protection, plus pulls formula links from original so need to be changed
- Replicate Current Sheet – replicates current Excel sheet, gets the same treatment as previous
