The Ryzen 7 5700X3D is technically AMD’s newest X3D CPU despite belonging to the Ryzen 5000 series released 4 years ago. The 5700X3D isn’t quite as powerful as the 5800X3D we’ve reviewed, the CPU on which 3D V-cache made its debut, but it offers a fantastic budget alternative and currently the cheapest on Amazon, considering the 5600X3D is exclusive to Micro Center.
X3D CPUs exist for one reason, and that’s to play games. The nature of including a 3D V-cache onto a CCD means that the CPU is essentially limited in certain aspects of its operation, mainly overclocking and voltage. This is because V-cache is sensitive to high voltages and temperatures. But what it lacks in OC potential, it more than makes up for in gaming performance.
