The Ryzen 7 5700X3D is technically AMD’s newest X3D CPU despite belonging to the Ryzen 5000 series released 4 years ago. This Prime Day, you can grab a 24% discount on this CPU, making for the perfect gaming-focused AM4 upgrade to your gaming rig. The 5700X3D isn’t quite as powerful as the 5800X3D we’ve reviewed, the CPU on which 3D V-cache made its debut, but it offers a fantastic budget alternative and currently the cheapest on Amazon, considering the 5600X3D is exclusive to Micro Center.

X3D CPUs exist for one reason, and that’s to play games. The nature of including a 3D V-cache onto a CCD means that the CPU is essentially limited in certain aspects of its operation, mainly overclocking and voltage. This is because V-cache is sensitive to high voltages and temperatures. But what it lacks in OC potential, it more than makes up for in gaming performance.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D

Ryzen 7 5000 Series 8-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM4 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor – 100-100001503WOF

Why you should consider this 5700X3D Prime Day deal

Before picking up the 5700X3D, there are a few things to consider, here are the most important points to think about:

  • 3D V-cache limits multi-core performance but excels in gaming: The 5700X3D is fantastic for gaming performance but falls behind equivalent processors in synthetic and multi-core scenarios. This means it should be used as a pure gaming processor.
  • AM4 is cheap: With AM5 superseding AM4 a couple of years ago, prices for the platform have dropped steadily. With that being said, AM4 may only be in support until 2025.
  • 105W TDP: The 5700X3D carries a 105W TDP, which is relatively efficient compared to some higher-end Ryzen CPUs. In comparison to Intel, the 5700X3D is very efficient.
  • Competes with Intel 12th-generation CPUs: In terms of gaming performance, this CPU trades blows with the likes of the 12900K.

The 5700X3D, as with any X3D CPU, is to be used primarily for gaming. You should not consider this CPU if you plan on running productivity tasks with the 5700X3D. If that is the case, then you’d be far better off opting for a non-X3D CPU, as they are far more balanced in terms of performance.

With that out of the way, the 5700X3D is a fantastic more budget alternative to the 5800X3D and battles 12th gen Intel CPUs for the win in gaming performance, despite being a generation behind.
