Mini PCs are great for those who are always traveling, as they are easy to carry around. They can be connected directly to an external monitor, and some even come packed with powerful components. However, Miniproca has entered the mini PC with something different, as their model comes with a built-in screen so you can use it on the go. They’ve smashed their Kickstarter goal and are now going live with a reduced price for early adopters.

What does the Miniproca mini PC offer?

This mini PC boasts an all-in-one design featuring a built-in 7-inch touchscreen display, eliminating the need for a separate monitor and making it compact and travel-friendly. However, it can also connect to up to three external monitors and support 4K 120 Hz. So, if we include the built-in screen, you can access the content on up to four screens. The built-in screen can also be folded when not in use, making it even easier to carry around.

Now, let’s get down to the most important part: the specs. For starters, it is powered by the Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, which has 8 cores, 16 threads, and a max boost frequency of up to 4.9 GHz. It also comes equipped with Radeon 680M graphics, so it’s a pretty decent processor for multiple tasks. On top of that, the mini PC supports up to 32 GB of DDR5 4800 MHz RAM, up to a 2TB M.2 SSD, and comes with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

As far as connectivity is concerned, there are 2 USB 3.2 ports, one USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio port on the front. At the back, you get a USB 4, DP 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and two USB 2.0 ports along with two 2.5G LAN ports. The DP and HDMI ports can be used to connect external monitors, while the 2.5G LAN ports should deliver high speeds when paired with a fast internet connection.

The price of this mini PC, however, is quite high. During the early crowdfunding period, you can grab the base model for $699. However, after its launch, the price will increase to $1,259. Keep in mind that this is only for the base model, as the variant with everything maxed out will cost around $2,000.

Is the Miniproca mini PC worth getting?

The Miniproca mini PC is great for those who are always traveling, as it can plug into an external monitor, but the built-in screen also lets you use it on the go. However, given its price, you might be better off getting a laptop. It seems primarily useful for those who regularly work with multi-monitor setups. Beyond that, it doesn’t offer anything a regular laptop can’t do, and it lacks a tactile keyboard of its own. So, it will be interesting to see how well it performs in the market.
