Guntouchables is a new co-op roguelite game hitting stores on August 7, including Steam. Upon launch, the big surprise is that Guntouchables will be free to keep for its first 24 hours. As long as you claim your copy in time, it’s yours to keep forever. The (perhaps) even better news is that you can practically run it on a toaster. So, grab yourself and three friends to hop into this 1-4 multiplayer co-op doomsday prepper action on launch day.

The game is being released by Ghost Ship Publishing, the studio behind Deep Rock Galactic – at least, the development side of the studio. Just to clarify, Guntouchables is actually developed by Game Swing, and it looks like they’ve done a pretty good job, judging from the gameplay we’ve seen so far.

Guntouchables is free to keep on launch day, August 7th

If you want to learn more about the game, Ghost Ship Publishing and Game Swing have kindly explained what to expect in their launch press release.

Preppers ready to start putting their stockpile of courage to use for the launch of Guntouchables can look forward to a variety of features:

  • Bring a friend to the end – Tackle this undertaking alone or assemble a motley crew of misfits, with cooperative play enabled for up to four preppers in a bid to survive an apocalypse overrun with 19 different kinds of mutants.
  • Four unconventional heroes – Play as “Big Bang” Barry Backhausen the Commando, Linda the Scout, Dr Marcus to Doctor, or Alfred the Sharpshooter, each with their own special skills to get the upper hand against hostile adversaries.
  • Supercharged survivors and evolving enemies – Collect upcrates, packed with Cash and an array of 65 different Perks, in the wastelands to improve the odds against an onslaught of carnage. But players won’t only upgrade themselves, between stages, they’ll have to vote on what advantages their mutant antagonists will bring to the next level.
  • Quintessential apocalyptic quests – Surviving the apocalypse is never linear, so preppers will need to complete missions in order to move forward. Amongst these, they can expect to revive radio towers, loot warehouses for toilet paper and assemble sentry guns.
  • Scavenge, shop, and scramble to survive – Scattered in the wasteland for preppers to find are an array of supplies including med kits, minigun turrets, and energy drinks. When the floors are looking a little bare for necessities, however, preppers can shop for hard-earned abilities, upgrades and a range of 19 different firearms.

We’re excited to be launching Guntouchables, and we can’t wait for the community to experience the mayhem that awaits them in the wastelands,” said Martin Kai Sommer, CEO of Game Swing. “Creating entertaining multiplayer experiences has been a core goal for our studio, and we’re grateful to have worked with the amazing team at Ghost Ship Publishing who share our aim of delivering games that bring people together.”

As you can see above, the team has already laid out a roadmap for the start of the game’s lifespan. It has been available in a closed alpha since the start of the year, and early access is being skipped to bring the game straight to version 1.0 on August 7. More content and improved controller support in September is a much-welcome update just around the corner.

We’re still waiting for Steam Deck verification, but the system requirements of an Intel i5-490, 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 470 graphics card tell us there will be no problems running it on a handheld. It also only takes up 1GB of storage space. And with that promise of better controller support soon, we expect Guntouchables to be a great game to play on the go.
