This Steam Deck protector keeps your screen and thumbsticks safe, fits both the LCD and OLED models
If you carry your Steam Deck with you often, you know how important it is to keep the screen and thumbsticks safe. Scratches on the screen or pressure on the thumbsticks can be frustrating and expensive to deal with. While there are several cases available in the market that can keep your handheld safe, Jamie Skella on MakerWorld has come up with a simple yet creative design.
Jamie has created a screen and stick protector cover case made just for the Steam Deck. It’s not a full-body case, but it focuses on protecting the most important and fragile parts: the screen and thumbsticks. It’s simple, sleek, lightweight, and great for anyone who wants extra protection while traveling.
This protector is different from those bulky cases that cover the entire handheld. Instead, it’s low-profile, which means it won’t add much size or weight to your Steam Deck. The design is modern and clean, so it still looks great while doing its job.

Jamie used PETG plastic to make the case. This is an important detail because PLA plastic is harder than the Steam Deck’s ABS body, which could cause damage over time. PETG, on the other hand, is more flexible and safer to use for this kind of cover. What makes this cover even smarter is how it was designed to be printed. It’s a multi-piece print, which means each part can lie flat on the print bed. This helps avoid issues like warping, which often happens with tall or vertical prints. Printing flat also gives you a cleaner and stronger result.
This case fits both LCD and OLED models of the Steam Deck. Jamie added small clips on the top edge to stop the protector from moving side-to-side. There’s also a 0.5mm deep cut-out for the screen, so the plastic never rubs directly on the glass.

Even though it’s custom-designed, the case is still easy to make if you have a 3D printer. You don’t need to use supports, which saves time and material. The USB-C port and vents are left open, so you can charge the device and keep it cool while it’s still protected. You can even print your own logo on the front of the cover, giving it a personal touch.
