UK retailers barely have any RTX 5090 GPUs in stock and it’s likely down to the Chinese New Year

It’s RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 release day and the world’s biggest retailers are prepared for launch – as much as they can be. There have already been a ton of warnings ahead of the launch that stock levels are expected to struggle. Even Nvidia put out a statement a couple of days ago warning of “stock-outs” for the 50 series.
A large UK retailer also revealed that 5090 and 5080 stock will likely sell out online “within 5 minutes” and now we’ve come to learn that stock levels are less than ideal, particularly for the flagship model.
- GPU: GB203
- CUDA Cores: 10752
- VRAM: 16GB GDDR7
- Memory Bus width: 256 bit
- Base Clock speed: 2295 MHz
- Boost Clock speed: 2617 MHz
RTX 5090 stock is reportedly limited in the UK
Queues have been building up for launch events around the world for the past couple of days; photos of people camping outside Micro Center have been making waves online. And now, it has been made apparent to us that stock for the RTX 5090 in the UK is lackluster, to say the least. Cards will be selling out almost immediately online, and it could be the same in-store. According to our sources, less than 30% of the expected 5090 volume is available at some UK retailers.

A portion of the flagship cards will also be allocated to 5090 prebuilt gaming PCs, leaving even fewer models to go around. On the bright side, RTX 5080 cards are expected to be much more widely available – though we’re not too convinced that many people spending days queueing up for a new 50 series card will really want one as their first choice.
It’s safe to say that Nvidia has chosen an interesting time to launch its new RTX 50 series cards – right as the Chinese New Year has begun. Celebrations kicked off on January 29th and the New Year sees one of the largest (human) migrations of the year, with millions of students and workers returning home to their families for several weeks. This has no doubt disrupted production and the 50 series launch will need some time to recover.
