The Ryzen AI 300 series is expected to hit the market next month. AMD claims that these next-gen processors offer better performance and graphics than the previous generation. While AMD has not revealed anything specific about their performance, two engineering samples from the series were recently spotted on Geekbench. These listings give us a closer look at the actual performance of the upcoming AI processors.
New Ryzen AI 300 series processors listed on Geekbench
The two listings that appeared are of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 processor and an unnamed engineering sample with the codename ‘Strix Point’. For those who don’t know, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 was previously called the HX 170, and the listing has surprisingly used the same name. However, it still provides us with the test scores so we can have a better idea about how these CPUs perform.

The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which boasts 12 cores and 24 threads, was running at a maximum frequency of 4.5 GHz. In Single-Core tests, it was able to score 2,833 points, while it scored 14,773 points in Multi-Core tests. On the other hand, the unnamed engineering sample was running at 4.8 GHz, and it scored 2,795 points in Single-Core tests and 14,124 points in Multi-Core tests. According to Tom’s Hardware, this is much better than how the processors performed in Silent Mode. After turning this mode off, paired with driver optimizations and development, the performance has jumped by 11%.
When compared to the Ryzen 9 8945HS and the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, the Ryzen AI HX 370 offers much better performance. For those who don’t know, the 7945HX3D is AMD’s fastest mobile processor on the market, scoring 2,819 points in Single Core tests. However, the HX 370 has managed to beat the 7945HX3D in this category. This is a bit surprising considering the 7945HX3D comes with the 3D V-Cache technology. On the other hand, it still holds a higher multi-core score, unsurprisingly though as it does boast 16 cores compared to the HX 370’s 12.
CPU benchmark scores | Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 | Ryzen 9 7945HX3D |
---|---|---|
Single-core | 2833 | 2819 |
Multi-core | 14773 | 16452 |
It is important to remember that there are still around three weeks left until the Ryzen AI 300 series gets launched, as it’s expected to go live on July 15th. Before that, AMD will continue to optimize the performance of the 300 series processors, so we can expect to see better results once the CPUs hit the market.
