Valve is giving us even more daily deals on the Steam store as developers get more tools to play with
Table of Contents
For those unaware, Valve’s Daily Deal program is a curated promotion where a game is featured on the front page of Steam, as well as on applicable tag and genre pages, for 24 hours. The program has been around for over a decade and has helped thousands of games gain dedicated visibility on the Steam homepage and relevant tag pages, allowing those titles to earn anywhere from around $10,000 to $2,000,000.
And now, Valve has introduced a few new additions to their Daily Deals program that not only bring exciting changes for those getting their games featured but also for us gamers, as we’ll now get more than just four daily deal games. Let’s unpack everything this update brings.
What’s in it for game developers?
The latest update to the program brings two new features for developers whose games are featured, with the first being the post-promotion recap. This recap is designed to help developers easily track their game’s performance during the Daily Deal promotion and will appear on the Steamworks dashboard immediately after the deal has ended.

If a Daily Deal promotion included multiple games or purchase options such as a Deluxe Edition, developers will now see a detailed breakdown showing how much each product or edition contributed to the overall revenue.
Daily Deals just got a big expansion
Last year, Valve started running four simultaneous Daily Deal promotions, with Steam prioritizing which two are shown first to each user based on their gameplay and Steam preferences. This was a positive upgrade from the previous two-spot system, as Valve realized that running four spots gives players and Steam more choices to work with. Now, Valve has decided to increase the number even further, expanding the Daily Deals program to support six titles per day.
With this expansion, more developers will have the chance to gain recognition, and players will have even more fresh and exciting games to discover. Since Steam’s algorithm curates Daily Deals based on each user’s preferences, if you think your game is “interesting”, it could land on someone’s homepage at the right time. And while the featured deals rotate every 24 hours, the discounts usually last a week, giving players plenty of time to jump on an offer before it's gone.
