CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X
AMD Ryzen™ 9 7900X CPU
The CPU for this high-end build is the Ryzen 9 7900X because it has excellent gaming and synthetic performance. We tested this processor in-house for our 7900X review and put it through its paces, and it didn't disappoint in the slightest.
This processor features 12 cores, 24 threads, a 4.7 GHz base clock speed, a 5.6 GHz boost clock speed, 64MB L3 cache, and a 170W TDP. What these specifications mean is that it has everything needed to take on the most intense tasks and come out on top without breaking a sweat.
Since all AMD processors are unlocked for overclocking, you can also increase their clock speeds that way. However, remember that their thermal output and TDP will increase along with their performance. For this, we recommend using the best CPU cooler to keep their temperature under control.
As for its gaming performance, we ran Cyberpunk 2077 and Days Gone at 1080p low settings to put the maximum strain on the CPU. Paired with an RTX 4070 Ti Super, it delivered 299 and 276 FPS, respectively.
GPU: XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX
The RX 7900 XTX is the flagship GPU of the Radeon 7000 series line-up, which means it has exceptional synthetic and gaming performance. We also thoroughly test GPUs in-house, and we did the same with this card for our RX 7900 XTX review. That said, the model we tested was the ASUS TUF Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC.
However, both have the same boost clock speed of 2,615 MHz, so the XFX variant should also deliver great performance. The XFX RX 7900 XTX features 24GB of GDDR6 VRAM, a triple fan design, a memory clock speed of 20 Gbps, and 6,144 stream processors.
What this means is that 4K gaming is a walk in the park with this GPU, as we've also seen during our testing. In Cyberpunk 2077 and Doom Eternal, it managed 70 and 227 at native 4K and 137 and 378 at 1440p, respectively. The in-game settings were set to max/ultra, and keep that in mind, these figures are very impressive, especially since no AI upscaling was aiding the GPU performance.
Also, a neat aspect of this card, especially given the current discount, is that you get excellent value as compared to Nvidia alternatives. If you went for Team Green, you'd have to go for an RTX 4080 Super or RTX 4090 to get playable FPS at 4K, and those cards aren't light on the pocket.
Motherboard: MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi Gaming
MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi Gaming Motherboard
For this build’s motherboard, we went with the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi, as it has a high-end chipset and great features and technologies that would help the 7900X perform at its best.
For starters, this is an ATX motherboard with dimensions of 243.84mmx304.8mm. According to MSI, this board has a maximum memory capacity of 256GB DDR5 RAM running at 7,800 MHz, which is insanely fast and should help keep your system running smoothly regardless of the workload.
It has a reinforced PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for the GPU, which is great since PCIe 5.0 has a bandwidth of 32 GT/s. This means that the RX 7900 XTX should be able to deliver its best without encountering bottleneck issues.
It also has WiFi 6E support as well as a 2.5G LAN port, meaning you should be able to comfortably game, stream, and work via a wired or wireless connection. Overall, this motherboard has good cooling solutions, connectivity options, and great build quality, which makes this deal even better.
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM 6000MHz
CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 RAM 32GB
For some, 32GB RAM might not be enough for a high-end build, but I think 32GB is the sweet spot for gaming and work. Also, considering that the memory in question is DDR5 running at 6,000 MHz, it should be more than enough for 4K gaming, resource-intensive applications, and anything else you can throw its way.
That said, the motherboard has four RAM slots. So, if you want, you can install two more memory sticks to boost your system’s performance and efficiency.
CPU cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i Elite CAPELLIX XT
Corsair iCUE H150i Elite CAPELLIX XT Liquid CPU Cooler
A powerful CPU like the Ryzen 9 7900X deserves a cooler capable of keeping it from thermal throttling, and that is where the Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix XT comes in. We've reviewed the Corsair H150i ELITE LCD XT, which is almost the same but has a 2.1” IPS display on the cooling block.
That said, the Capellix XT has a maximum speed of 2,100 RPM and a 65.57 cubic feet per minute airflow capacity. What this means is that even if the 7900X has a 170W TDP, this AIO cooler should be able to keep its temperature in check and keep performing optimally. We also recommend using the best thermal paste to ensure efficient heat transfer from the CPU to the cooling block.
SSD: WD Black 2TB SN850X NVMe
WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive
A high-end build isn't complete without an SSD, and the WD Black SN850X 2TB is the perfect choice. First, 2TB of storage should be enough for most games, software, movies, and other files, but the best part is its 7,300 MB/s speed.
This means that data can be stored and retrieved quickly, resulting in better efficiency and performance. Your PC will boot quickly, and you should also experience your games loading faster than usual (especially if you’re currently using an HDD).
PSU: Corsair RM850x
CORSAIR RM850x Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
The 7900 XTX’s power draw is 355W, while the 7900X’s TDP is 170W. Thus, the total power draw is 525W, excluding the power draw of other components such as the motherboard, fans, etc. A power supply with an 850W capacity should be more than enough to power this rig. This can be regarded as one of the best PSUs for 7900 XTX; AMD recommends at least a 750W PSU.
There is sufficient overhead to accommodate overclocking the GPU, CPU, and RAM without worrying about whether the PSU can handle it. We've reviewed the RM850x, but it was the Shift White variant.
That said, this PSU has a Cybenetic Gold efficiency rating and A- sound output rating. What this means is that the average efficiency at 115V is 88.107%, while at 230V, it jumps up to 90.396%. The A- noise rating means that its noise output is between 25dB(A) and 30dB(A), which is very quiet. On top of that, it has a 135mm maglev fan, which uses magnetic levitation to rotate the fan, and since the bearing and shaft aren't grinding against each other, the noise is reduced and also extends the fan’s lifespan.
Case: Sevenhero Panoramic H602
Sevenhero Panoramic H602 ATX Mid-Tower Gaming PC Case
The PC case is the final part of this build and a crucial aspect as it holds everything together. We went with the Sevenhero Panoramic H602 mid-tower casing as it comes with five 120mm fans pre-installed and has enough space to accommodate the GPU, motherboard, PSU, and AIO cooler without cluttering the space.
This means that the airflow won't get restricted, and sufficient airflow means cooler components. The I/O options are on the bottom side of this casing, which works because of the case’s 270° viewing angle. That automatically makes putting the casing sideways the best option so the I/O connections are facing you.
This orientation looks neat, as you get a clear view of all the components and their RGB lighting. The side panels also come off easily, which should make assembling the PC and maintaining it a breeze.
The maximum GPU size this casing can accommodate is 400mm or 15.57” where, and the maximum radiator size supported is 360mm, which is the exact size of the H150i cooler. So, all in all, putting together everything inside this case should be simple and easy.
