Latest news surrounding the hugely popular Ryzen 9 9950X has seen its launch pushed back by over two weeks. Fortunately, that gives retailers more time to prepare while you decide where to buy the latest flagship offering.
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X is set to be the most powerful processor that AMD has ever produced for the average consumer. Gamers and content creators alike will be able to enjoy performance increases to the effect of 45% according to some leaks. But that’s if you know where to buy the 9950X, that’s where we come in.
Given that the Ryzen 9000 series review samples are already in the hands of testers, we won’t have to wait long to see the juicy benchmark numbers for ourselves. We’re hoping for IPC increases on a more efficient package, but time will tell.
If you want to become an early adopter of AMD’s next-gen flagship CPU, keep reading as we list all the retailers below. Product pages are already live for the 9950X although they are probably not supposed to be. B&H Photo and Video published this page a bit ahead of time.
Where to buy the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X US – Expected retailers
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X will most likely be available to purchase at every major tech retailer in the US, these include:
Where to buy the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X CA – Expected retailers
Just like the US, we expect the Ryzen 9 9950X to be available at all major retailers.
Where to buy the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X UK – Expected retailers
And finally, to our friends across the pond, we also assume the 9950X will be available at all major tech retailers.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X price estimate
There is no official word yet on what the price will be when the 9950X launches, however, we can make some predictions based on previous product releases. The Ryzen 9 5950X was released for $799 and the Ryzen 9 7950X after it released at $699, so it is safe to assume that the new 9950X will fall somewhere between that price point. Hopefully on the lower end of that scale.
Can you pre-order the Ryzen 9 9950X?
Usually, pre-orders go live a day or so before the launch of the new CPU, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. Only through the above rumor do we assume pre-orders will go live, as it states the 31st at 9 am ET for the pre-order time. That now lines up with the Ryzen 9000 release date, and so could be the time to buy or pre-order.
Pre-orders did happen for earlier Ryzen launches, but that does not mean it’ll happen for this one. And it is up to the retailer whether or not to put pre-orders live. We don’t see any reason why retailers would choose not to take pre-orders this time around.
What motherboards are compatible with the Ryzen 9 9950X?
Any motherboard that features the AM5 socket is compatible with the Ryzen 9 9950X. However, you might want to wait for the 800 series motherboards to make the most out of your new Ryzen 9000 series CPU. Here is a list of sockets that support the new CPU.
- X670
- B650E
- B650
- A620
- X870
- X870E
Though it is assumed that there will be more 800 series motherboards in the future, none have been announced, so we have decided to exclude them from the list until we know more.
