You can finally create tables in Notepad on Windows 11, following latest Insider update
Table of Contents
Microsoft is keen to keep improving Windows 11, adding new features that make the system easier and more useful for everyday tasks. Some updates are small, while others significantly alter how people use apps. Recently, a leak revealed that Microsoft is working on allowing users to add text to images in the Snipping Tool. That feature is still on the way, but in the meantime, Microsoft has introduced another update that many people did not expect: you can now create tables in Notepad.
Notepad has always been one of the simplest apps on Windows. It’s been around for decades and has barely changed, which is why most people don’t rely on it for anything more than quick notes or temporary text edits. When users need to create documents, lists, or anything more structured, they often switch to Word or another full document editor. Because of this, Notepad has always been seen as a basic tool with limited uses.
Notepad is getting more advanced
Notepad finally has the ability to insert tables in the latest Windows Insider build. It will be rolled out to all users at a later date. This might sound like a small addition, but it makes Notepad far more practical. Instead of pasting messy text or trying to manually line things up with spaces or tabs, you can now insert clean, organized grids directly into your notes.

The new table feature is simple to use. Microsoft added a Table button in the Notepad toolbar, and clicking it instantly adds a table to your document. From there, you can edit the table the way you want. You can add more rows or columns, delete the ones you don’t need, and organize your information however you like.
Honestly, this feature should have existed from the beginning. Tables are a basic part of writing and organizing information, and their absence in Notepad has been noticeable for years. But it’s good to see Microsoft finally giving attention to one of Windows’ oldest apps. In any case, it will be exciting to see what Microsoft brings next, especially now that the full support for Windows 10 is over and more people are shifting to Windows 11.Â
