ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme
ASUS ROG Ally gets a massive discount at Best Buy
The ASUS ROG Ally Extreme, which comes with the AMD Z1 Extreme processor, was previously available for $649.99. But right now, you can grab it for $549.99, which is $100 less than the original price. On top of that, the non-extreme version is also available with a $100 discount, and you can buy it for $399.99. Additionally, you can save more if you go for an open-box model instead.
The ROG Ally boasts a stunning 7-inch FHD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. It also has a 120 HZ refresh rate and a brightness that maxes out at 500 nits, so it’s pretty usable outdoors and in well-lit environments. For faster processing speeds, the ROG Ally has 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512 GB M.2 SSD. It also comes with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a built-in fingerprint sensor for better security.
Is there any difference between the two models?
The only difference between the two models is the processor. The Extreme variant comes with the Z1 Extreme processor, which boasts 8 cores, 16 threads, and a max boost clock of up to 5.10 GHz. On the other hand, the regular version has the standard Z1 processor, featuring 6 cores and 12 threads. Both processors are capable of running demanding games smoothly, but the difference is significant in some games.
For instance, at 1080p with a low graphics preset, the Z1 Extreme processor delivers 49 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077, while the standard Z1 hits around 32 FPS. Similarly, in Forza Horizon 5, the Extreme processor can reach around 76 FPS, while the standard version can get around 52 FPS. You can view the official benchmarks of both models below.
In any case, both models offer excellent performance, and the one you should get depends on your preference. If you have some extra cash in your account and want the absolute best performance, then you should definitely opt for the ASUS ROG Ally Extreme. But if you’re on a budget or are not looking for top-notch performance, then the regular version will be just fine. But make sure to choose quickly, as the prices could return to full price soon.
