While the game provides a thrilling experience filled with deadly enemies and interesting characters, there are some players who are unable to enjoy it due to different issues. If you’re currently playing Path of Exile 2 with the API set to DirectX12, it may be the reason why you’re constantly getting the failed to create resource for texture error. Thankfully, this can be quickly fixed by switching the API.

  • Launch Path of Exile 2.
  • Go to the main menu.
  • Access the Options.
  • Find Graphics Settings.
  • Now, switch from DirectX12 to Vulkan through the Renderer option.

Verify integrity of game files

If switching to Vulkan did not solve the issue for you, then there may be something wrong with the game files. If the files are corrupt or missing, you’ll continue to face different errors. The best way to fix them is by using the Verify Files feature on Steam.

  • Open Steam and sign in to your account.
  • Go to your Game Library and right-click on Path of Exile 2.
  • Access the Properties and go to Installed Files.
  • Click on ‘Verify integrity of game files’ and wait for the process to finish.

If you have not updated your GPU drivers in a while, now would be a good time to do so. This is because Path of Exile 2 is a new game, and you need to make sure you’re using the latest graphics drivers. Otherwise, you’ll continue to face performance issues and different errors.

To update the drivers, you need to head over to the official website of your GPU’s manufacturer and download the latest version from there. Or, you can use the dedicated application of your GPU, such as the Nvidia App or AMD Radeon Software.
