CES 2025 saw the unveiling of several great smart TVs, and the latest OLED offering from Samsung, the S95F, was one of the most anticipated. The previous model, the S95D (Samsung has decided to miss out the letter ‘E’ for some reason) was a contender for the best gaming TV of 2024, and the upgrades in this latest model look to make it even better for gamers.

Although we don’t yet have confirmed information as to the release date and pricing for this new TV, we can make a solid prediction on both of these by looking at historical patterns. Read on for all the info!

Samsung S95F release date window estimate

The good people at Samsung are yet to grace us with the information about the S95F release date, however, if we take a gander at the last two releases from prior generations we can make a decent guess as to when we’re likely to see it appear. Looking below then, it would seem sometime between late February and the end of March is when we’re most likely to see the new TV hit the shelves, though we’ll have to wait and see to know for sure.

Samsung S95F specs we know so far

Following the grand unveiling at CES 2025, we know that the S95F will come with an upgraded QD-OLED panel compared to that in the S95D, which Samsung claims will reach up to 30% additional full-screen peak brightness without using much more energy, and with a 2,000 nits peak brightness when limited to 10% of the screen – such as in darker scenarios with bright highlights on the screen. This compares to the c. 1,650 nits 10% peak on the S95D.

The refresh rate has been increased up to 165Hz from 144Hz – not a tremendous leap but still good news for PC gamers. There’s still no Dolby Vision support sadly, though the TV does come with HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG.

The TV is powered by an NQ4 AI Gen 3 processor (an upgrade from the Gen 2 in the last model) and uses the same Tizen operating system, though it now features more advanced AI features like ‘AI Upscaling Pro’ plus ‘Vision AI’, which can generate AI wallpapers and more effectively search for related content plus actor information etc. Tizen still comes with the same great features for streaming games as the preceding models did. The new remote control will come with a dedicated AI button, but besides that, we don’t have much information on any potential changes.

There’s still not been much revealed in terms of audio quality, and given this was one of the weaker areas of the S95D (which had good audio clarity but disappointed in terms of power/dynamics) we’d like to see an upgrade, but chances are it will remain fairly similar.

In terms of the design of the chassis and stand, the design is pretty much the same as the S95D; given this is a great-looking TV that’s not a negative. It comes with the same One Connect box, thin panel, and central mount stand.

  • Resolution: 3840 x 2160 (4K/UHD)
  • Maximum Refresh Rate: 165Hz
  • Peak brightness (10% screen size): 2,000 nits (claimed)
  • HDR support: HDR10 / HDR10+ / HLG
  • Input ports: 4x HDMI 2.1
  • CPU: NQ4 AI Gen 3
  • Smart TV operating system: Tizen
  • Screen sizes: 55″, 65″, 77″

Samsung S95F price estimate

Samsung has not confirmed the pricing of the S95F as of yet, however, if we look at the historic pricing of the last two generations below (when they first hit the shelves) we can make a decent estimate as to how much the new model will go for. We expect the S95F to price either exactly the same as the S95D did, or with a $100 increase.

How does the Samsung S95F compare to the upcoming LG G5?

The Samsung S95F and the LG G5 are close competitors in the premium smart TV market, both being unveiled at CES 2025 and having many features in common (165Hz refresh rate, four HDMI 2.1 ports etc.). Aesthetically there are noticeable differences between the two and the LG is available in a greater range of sizes, though there are other differences.

If the specifications stated by the company are to be believed, the Samsung S95F could end up being around 200 nits brighter, still having the edge in this area as did the previous generation, arguably making it better for viewing/gaming in more brightly lit environments. The LG G5 however will have the Dolby Vision support that the S95F lacks and may end up having better audio performance, though on this latter point, we will have to wait and see until the reviews come in. The same goes for how smoothly the new processors will function and manage tasks like AI uplifting – we’ll have to wait and see.
