Grok 3 release date window
According to Elon Musk, Grok 3 is scheduled to arrive at the end of this year. He did not share an exact release date and only mentioned that they’re training it on 100K H100s, and it will arrive after that.
However, during his podcast with Jordan B. Peterson, Elon Musk confirmed that they’re training Grok 3 at the Memphis Data Center but are also actively working on improving Grok 2. So, if there are any problems with the current model, given that it’s in its beta stage, we can expect Grok 3 to be delayed by a few months.
But for now, you can expect the next version of the AI assistant to arrive sometime in December this year.
Grok 3 expected price
At the moment, the Grok chatbot is available for only Premium and Premium+ X users. The Premium subscription costs $8 per month, while Premium+ costs $16. Given that Grok 3 will be much more advanced than Grok 2, it’s worth wondering whether the company may increase the price of its subscription service.
However, it is important to remember that when Grok 2 was launched, the company did not increase the price and kept it the same as before. So, X Premium and Premium+ members can expect to enjoy Grok 3 without any additional cost.
Grok 3 features – what can we expect?
The model is being trained at xAI’s state-of-the-art supercomputing center in Memphis, Tennessee. Previously, in an interview with Nicolai Tangen, head of Norway’s sovereign fund, Elon Musk claimed that they used 20,000 H100 GPUs to train Grok 2. Now, for those who don’t know, these GPUs are not only expensive, with each costing between $30,000 and $40,000, but they are also incredibly powerful and capable of handling massive amounts of data and complex tasks simultaneously. However, the company is using 100,000 H100 GPUs to train Grok 3, which is 80,000 more than Grok 2.
Now that xAI is using a massive budget and many more resources, we can expect Grok 3 to be significantly faster than Grok 2. In fact, the current version may seem weak in front of it. What will this mean? Well, for starters, the upcoming model should be able to generate results much faster, understand vast amounts of information quickly, and process real-time data, which should help it provide up-to-date information. Grok 3 should also be able to understand and generate human-like text with top-notch accuracy and without any errors.
