How to join Threads as an Instagram user

The below step-by-step is for those with active Instagram accounts, which will be around 1 billion people around the planet. You’ll find it the easiest since Threads is linked to Instagram and more an extension of it.

‘Threads, an Instagram app’ available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

Search for the relevant app, download and install.

If you have an Instagram account, and have the Instagram app installed, you will be given the option to import your profile.

Once done, you’re nearly set up. You can choose whether the profile is private or public and continue.

You can choose to follow everyone you already follow on Instagram, or you can select from that list.

You can then follow additional accounts once you are in the app.

You can choose your notifications preferences, and now you’re set up.

You can start following accounts and engaging with threads.

Setting up Instagram to join Threads

If you don’t have an Instagram account, you’ll need one before you can follow the steps above.

Head over to the Instagram sign up page.

You can log in to Instagram with your Facebook account if you have one. Alternatively, you will need to provide:

Mobile number or email address
Full name
Username
Password

Click ‘Next’.

You can download the Instagram app and register directly on the app.

Assuming your username is free and you can confirm your account, you’ll now be set up on Instagram.

You cabn edit your profile and profile picture and begin using Instagram for posts.
