Keen gamers across the internet are wondering – can the ASUS ROG Ally play Destiny 2?

The Asus ROG Ally has just been recently launched on the market. The handheld gaming PC comes with lots of great features to give gamers a mind-blowing gaming experience.

Even before it was released, many questions have been flying around about what games the ROG Ally can play. One game in particular that many people have been asking about is Destiny 2. They want to know if Destiny 2 can be played on the Asus ROG Ally. As a result, we have put together this article to provide an answer to that.

So can the ROG Ally play Destiny 2? Although Destiny 2 is only officially supported on desktops and PC, it works perfectly well on some handheld gaming consoles, including the ROG Ally. In fact, Destiny 2 runs very smoothly on the Asus ROG Ally. It works just as well as the Valve Steam Deck.

Destiny 2 System Requirements

These are the minimum system requirements for devices playing Destiny 2. However, recommended ones hit slightly higher specs, especially for the CPU and GPU.

  • OS: Windows® 7 / Windows® 8.1 / Windows® 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i3 3250 3.5 GHz or Intel Pentium G4560 3.5 GHz / AMD FX-4350 4.2 GHz
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660 2GB or GTX 1050 2GB / AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Storage: 105 GB available space

The ROG Ally goes above and beyond these requirements – no problem.

ROG Ally Specs

Besides having awesome software, the Asus ROG Ally rocks some seriously powerful hardware. The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and the AMD Radeon Graphics card pack a major punch. Furthermore, the 120 Hz refresh rate makes everything look super smooth, and you can tweak the battery life depending on whether you wanna go all-out in Turbo Mode or conserve energy in the silent mode.

The display is a sweet 7-inch screen with 1920×1080 pixel resolution, providing you with crisp visuals. The ROG Ally also hooks you up with a solid 16 GB of memory and a roomy 512 GB of storage space. As a handheld console, it’s got awesome RGB lighting around the control sticks and some comfortable grips on the back buttons. Plus, there’s a handy USB-C port, power button, and other controls to keep you in charge.

Settings to Make Destiny 2 Look Great on Your ROG Ally

Even though Destiny 2 runs perfectly well on the ROG Ally from the get-go, a little tweaking to make it run well and achieve that perfect balance wouldn’t be a bad idea. If you want Destiny 2 to look and run great on your portable ROG Ally console, these are the settings you should use.

Resolution: 1920×1080. This is the default resolution of the ROG Ally’s display.

Screen Space Ambient: HDAO. This brings a more realistic feeling of depth to the game.

Field of View: 85, which is the default setting.

Texture Anisotropy: 16x. This allows textures to look sharper and clearer from angled views.

Anti-Aliasing: FXAA. This helps smoothen out jagged edges and improves image quality.

Shadow Quality: Low. Shadows usually affect performance during gameplay. Avoid using the lowest or highest.

Environment Detail Distance: Medium. The environment detail distance determines how detailed objects such as mountains and buildings appear at a distance. The medium setting gives a better view.

Render Resolution: 100. The render resolution value is in percentage. The higher the settings, the better the image quality. However, lower settings give better performance. Leaving it at 100 gives a better result altogether. But you may leave it at 90 or 80 for improved framerates in certain scenarios.
