13-inch Apple MacBook Air M5 deal slashes $200 off the MSRP, for a limited time only
Table of Contents
This latest-gen version of the legendary MacBook Air combines strong everyday and creative performance with a sharp display, excellent battery endurance and a compact 2.7-pound aluminium body. Its 16GB of unified memory, faster 512GB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 and improved external-display support make this configuration substantially more practical than older entry-level Air models. The 60Hz screen, limited port selection, non-upgradeable hardware and fanless thermal design prevent it from replacing a MacBook Pro for high-end creative applications or other demanding workloads, but for general productivity it’s unmatched. Grab it now for $200 off!

What we like about the Apple 13-inch MacBook Air M5
Responsive 10-core M5 processor
The M5’s 10-core CPU provides more than enough performance for web applications, office work, software development, photo editing and moderate video production. Its high-performance cores handle latency-sensitive tasks, while the six efficiency cores manage background work with lower power consumption. Apple silicon maintains similar performance when the laptop is disconnected from power, unlike some high-performance Windows processors that reduce speed substantially on battery. This makes the Air particularly useful for students, travellers and mobile professionals.

Eight-core integrated GPU
The MDHE4LL/A configuration uses the eight-core version of Apple’s M5 GPU rather than the optional 10-core design. It supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing and includes a Neural Accelerator in each GPU core for compatible graphics and AI workloads. Performance is suitable for photo editing, 4K video work, interface design and some modern games. It is not equivalent to a high-end discrete graphics processor, and game availability on macOS remains more limited than on Windows. The GPU shares the laptop’s 16GB unified-memory pool. Complex 3D scenes, large AI models and professional video timelines can therefore encounter memory pressure sooner than on a system configured with 24GB or 32GB.
16GB unified memory
A 16GB standard configuration provides a more realistic capacity for current multitasking than the 8GB supplied with many older entry-level MacBook Air models. It can comfortably handle numerous browser tabs, communication applications, productivity software and moderate creative work. The memory is integrated into the processor package and cannot be replaced or expanded after purchase. Buyers expecting to use virtual machines, large development environments, high-resolution creative projects or local AI models for several years should consider a 24GB or 32GB configuration before ordering.
Faster 512GB SSD
The 512GB SSD provides enough space for macOS, applications and a reasonable collection of local files. It is a substantial improvement over a 256GB base drive, particularly for users working with photo libraries, videos or large development projects. Like the memory, the internal storage is not user-upgradeable. External Thunderbolt or USB4 storage can provide additional capacity, but it is less convenient than having sufficient internal storage from the outset.
Sharp 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display
The 13.6-inch IPS display has a 2560×1664 resolution, density of 224 pixels per inch and rated brightness of 500 nits. Text appears crisp, while support for the P3 colour gamut and one billion colours makes the panel suitable for general photo and video work. True Tone adjusts white balance according to ambient lighting for a more natural appearance. Color-sensitive work should be completed with True Tone disabled and an appropriate reference profile, as automatic adjustments alter the screen’s colour temperature. The display is limited to 60Hz and does not use Mini LED or OLED technology.
Strong battery endurance
Apple rates the 53.8Wh battery for up to 18 hours of streamed video or 15 hours of wireless web use. Independent testing of the M5 Air family has generally found that it can last through a full working or academic day, although exact endurance depends on brightness, applications and wireless activity. Video rendering, gaming, local AI processing and external displays consume considerably more power than document editing or web browsing. The 18-hour figure should therefore be viewed as a controlled maximum rather than an expectation for every workload. The laptop can fast-charge with a compatible USB Power Delivery adapter rated at 70W or above. MagSafe provides a dedicated charging connection, leaving both Thunderbolt ports available for accessories.
Thin and light construction
The 13-inch model measures approximately 11.97 inches wide, 8.46 inches deep and 0.44 inches thick. Its 2.7-pound weight makes it considerably easier to carry than most performance laptops and the 15-inch MacBook Air. Its aluminium enclosure feels rigid despite the low weight, and the fanless cooling system makes the laptop silent during operation. The Midnight finish is visually understated but tends to show fingerprints and skin oils more readily than lighter finishes.
Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6
Apple’s N1 wireless chip adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread networking. Wi-Fi 7 can improve throughput, latency and operation in congested environments when connected to compatible networking hardware. Users with older routers will still connect through supported earlier Wi-Fi standards. The benefits of Wi-Fi 7 therefore depend on the surrounding network rather than the laptop alone.
Two Thunderbolt 4 ports
Both USB-C connections support Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 at up to 40Gbps, charging and DisplayPort output. They can connect fast external storage, docks, network adapters and displays through suitable cables or hubs. There is no integrated HDMI output, SD card reader, USB-A port or Ethernet connector, and both Thunderbolt ports sit on the same side of the laptop. Many users will need a hub for desk use.
Improved external-display support
The M5 Air can operate its internal panel while driving as many as two external displays. Supported arrangements include two screens at up to 6K/60Hz or 4K/144Hz, or one display at up to 8K/60Hz, 5K/120Hz or 4K/240Hz. This makes the Air considerably more practical as the centre of a desktop workspace. Achieving the maximum resolutions and refresh rates requires suitable Thunderbolt or DisplayPort adapters, compatible cables and displays.
12MP Center Stage camera
The 12MP webcam uses Center Stage to keep the user framed during video calls. Desk View can also present an overhead-style view of the workspace for demonstrations, handwritten notes or physical objects. Video recording is limited to 1080p despite the sensor’s higher resolution, but Apple’s image processing generally produces clear exposure and natural colour. The three-microphone array supports directional beamforming, Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum modes.
Four-speaker audio system
The 13-inch model uses four speakers rather than the six-speaker system fitted to the 15-inch Air. It supports Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio through the built-in speakers, with dynamic head tracking available through compatible AirPods. Audio quality is strong for a laptop of this thickness, although the larger model offers greater low-frequency presence and overall output. A 3.5mm headphone connection remains available and supports high-impedance headphones.
Comfortable keyboard and trackpad
The backlit Magic Keyboard includes full-height function keys and a Touch ID sensor for login, purchases and password authentication. Key travel is relatively shallow but consistent, making it comfortable for extended typing once accustomed to the feel. The Force Touch trackpad remains one of the strongest laptop pointing devices, providing accurate tracking, pressure-sensitive input and consistent haptic feedback across its surface. The laptop does not include a touchscreen.
Who should buy this MacBook Air deal?
The 13-inch M5 MacBook Air is best suited to students, writers, developers, office users and mobile creative professionals who prioritise portability, battery life and silent operation. Its 16GB memory and 512GB SSD make it a capable everyday configuration without immediately requiring storage or memory compromises. It is also a strong option for users upgrading from an Intel Mac or older M1 Air. Owners of a recent M3 or M4 model will see faster storage, wireless connectivity and processing, but the unchanged 60Hz display and exterior design make the upgrade less transformative.
The MacBook Pro remains the better choice for sustained 3D rendering, intensive software compilation, large AI workloads, HDR production and users needing more built-in ports. Windows gaming laptops also provide broader game compatibility and more powerful discrete graphics, though they are generally heavier, louder and less efficient.
